Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Internal/ external investigation

A co-worker of mine is working on getting a CFE as they want to move into the investigations area. Is this the right path for them. They’re convinced that it’s a requirement even though apps say it’s preferred. He’s says a bunch of people on LinkedIn and getting that and ACAMS as well.

CFE stands for Certified Fraud Examiner for those that don’t know

Actually, there’s a fair amount of stuff that happens at after hour events, from working remotely, while taking clients to events, etc. not to mention data loss, sending CSI, etc.

Why do you care? Your friend is trying to take steps to advance his career or change direction. You sound jealous.

So you're asking for career counseling "for a friend"? From a layoff board?

All of you would be very surprised at the gamut of misconduct that occurs at this company, some of it criminal. To say that internal investigations is not required is ridiculous, actually stupid.

All they do is have a couple phone calls with people whose name has been mentioned & then deem as there isn’t sufficient of evidence of wrong doing & close the case.

It is helpful for the respected designation & expertise recognized should they end up in litigation from an investigation.

Tons of investigators have been downsized. So, merry Christmas to you, I guess.

Neither are require but good to have if you have the time and means. I’d say CFE over ACAMS unless you’re looking to get into BSA/AML type work.

It is not required, but, it definitely helps. I wouldn't discourage them from doing it but if he is holding back applying because he doesn't have one he is mistaken. Let him know to update resume to indicate he is currently in study for the certification.

Wish we’d just layoff all investigations people. Bunch of drama starters.
