Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Charlie got how much???

Anyone ever take the time to breakdown the rate of pay increase percentages over the years? Well, after seeing how big Charlie’s pay increase was in 2024 (is it going to be even higher in 2025?), I took the time to breakdown the numbers. Some years are higher, some are lower and some there is no change in pay. I have had at least a meets every one of my annual reviews. Over the last six years working at the stagecoach, I averaged a 1.5% increase. I know I’m not the CEO, but Charlie got a 7.6% increase in 2024 ($31.2million). I don’t mind the CEO makes millions of dollars per year, but it seems very unfair with regular workers there is a big pay percentage disparity for increases. My elderly parents on social security get an higher percentage cost of living increase than Wells Fargo employees. And they talk about how great we did in 2024 by throwing $1.1k cash award at us…slap in the face is what that is! How about an annual 5% or better raise or even a cost of living adjustment? Help a brotha out!

I'm sure that trickle down economics will enrich all of us, just as it has in the past...once higher dividends are paid, Board payments get increased, and stock buybacks are taken care of. Doh!

Charlie here.
I am not a destroyer of the company, I am a liberator of the company. The point is that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms, greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge, has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, will not only save Wells Fargo & Company, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA.

It's all about focus.
Those that work to care for family and a life focus on others.
Those climbing the ladder to reach new heights focus only on themselves.

I know its cliché, but Charlie will end up at some point seeing he has everything that is not important and zero happiness since his focus is on himself.

He never made anyone else happy so there is no joy inside him to be happy about.
Just the misery he caused thousands of others climbing that ladder.

@he+1jk0zjxq8, based on my observation, almost all successful business executives have successful business parents. Their parents can be a CEO, Sr. executive, lawyer, doctor, professor, etc. One of my colleagues' father was a president of a small company. He said his father taught him how play corporate politics well so that he can move up the ladder faster than others. At that time, he was a junior associate out of college. A couple of years later, he became a VP, in another couple of years, he became an SVP. I left the company but when I checked back his LinkedIn page several years later, he was a head of the division. This guy was not just a hard worker, but he was very street smart, politically very aware of the environment, and knew how to play games and win.

@h7+1jk0zjxq8, No man. Charlie just knows how to play politics very well. Dirty toxic politics 101. That's how they move up the ladder.

Charlie's Total comp (salary and bonus) annual increase equation:

30% workforce cost reduction = 30%*10 = 300% increase in his total comp

I lost 250k in 3 yrs due to salary lower than peers, rigged PE's and bonus cuts..unfair? I would say, I am being severely cheated out of living and preparation for retirement. I bust my ... for a degree and promotions to now be back to just getting by and relying on credit cards. All so rich people and grabhandles can go on vacation and improve their investment portfolios. I barely can save to pay my tax bills. Not to mention natural disasters, and home repairs that came out of savings. Now I have to worry about being targeted for termination.

People complain about this EVERY year when it happens. Unfortunately not much can be done as the rich get richer and take care of themselves. Try contacting the Regulators, the media, and Congress.

The more he cuts us, the bigger his increase and bonus.
Nevermind those of us that make money for, or help run, this company. This backwards mentality is toxic and demeaning to the work force.

I’m a consistently high performer. I’ve also been around long enough to remember bonus targets and if the company met objectives and did well, and you met your objectives you were granted at or near target percentage for your role. If you exceeded, chances were good you got more than your target. Last year I had several accolades from leaders. By all accounts, I had a great year. But not without cost. I worked lots of extra hours. Merit was sh-t, bonus, while an increase over last year, was still 8 percentage points below the target for this role. Have finally come to terms that it really doesn’t matter what you do. You can have a banger year and it’s only worth an extra $2k to them. Because every dollar they give to you, means less they give themselves.

I’m done giving up week nights and weekends for $2k.
