Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Tech RTO

Sounds like the technology RTO practice is actually reasonable. Come in for important meetings. This came across loud and clear during the last AMA. People in tech should probably thank Saul for supporting his team. I have first hand experience that people in tech in other companies work far harder for less money and RTO is mandated. So how about we act like adults and not sc--w it up?

Now define an important meeting. Is TK’s globetrotting, golf outing, dancing parties considered an important meeting? Or is when she comes to town for layoffs an important meeting? What’s is important to her may be a different interpretation for others.

I like how this guy thinks. Underwriters and various other groups aren't RTOing soooo...yeah. No consistency.

Go back and listen to the AMA- Saul, his directs and their directs have to come in 3x/week. For their salaries I don’t feel too bad for them. The rest of us that are Agile are the important ceremonies and meetings. Plan it right and it can be once a week. I still hate RTO but it could be worse.

@1srn

As of Wed that has changed. Go watch Saul’s AMA

Wrong. If you are on an Agile team, you come in for ceremonies like backlog refinement. If you are not agile, you are in the office 3x per week. Management is a different story.

If they tie office attendance to bonus payout they will be asking for a class action lawsuit or EEOC case based on the disparity across lines of business.

Such BS that some teams get exceptions and others don't. So many managers are pvssies and won't speak up for their teams -- especially those teams that have been 100% remote for over a decade.

So tech folks don’t have to come in 3x/week, just when there are important meetings?

I'd be down with this plan, especially since my team is geographically diverse and doesn't have in person meetings--important or otherwise. FRTO. F it right in it's stupid Fn face.

I agree Saul is right in only important meetings come in for...i am not angry at him for that...I am angry at whoever decided to cancel my work from home contract arbitrarily. Over 20 years I worked from home mostly and came in office when important...I am now on medication for stress, blood pressure and anxiety directly caused by that decision...
