Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Absolutely love this page and here’s why…

Corporate is going thru this big push to get everyone to not use their personal phones for work purposes unless you go thru the corporate VPN. While it’s true there is definitely a security component to this, with all the changes happening lately, I feel it’s the company doing damage control to try and quell employees from trash talking the company to their peers and to keep employees from finding out what is really going on, essentially keeping us in the dark…to keep morale from getting even lower. I have found out so much good and useful info on this page, it helps me to feel like I’m not alone in some of the BS I’m going through at work as well as what changes are coming down the pipeline which is affecting my work status.

Even with the trolls there is more truth here than you'll ever get from Corp communications.

former WF employee... had a company phone for many years. However, WF decided to eliminate company phone, therefore I was no longer "on call". Then there was push to get team members to use personal phone and personal computer. I was not interested and continued to use company laptop until laid off with severance. All is well; I have less stress, and I don't miss listening to SVB sip coffee and yak endlessly about agile and scrum collaboration. I volunteer in my community and work part time job to cover expenses. It's better on the other side if you are able to plan ahead for possible layoff. Best wishes!

I know people in many organizations around WF and I've never heard anyone talk about being forced to use their personal phone for work. Where is this happening?

I'd never do it, obviously. Anyone who goes along with that is a giant fool.

I refused to use my phone for work. Apparently, only like 25% of employees volunteered to sign up which is why corporate is now forcing it upon employees or to attest they don’t use their personal phone for work. I don’t believe anything management says!

If your personal phone goes through VPN, they can monitor your context. Don't do it. If you must have a phone for work, WF should provide it. Our personal phones are paid for by us as well as the monthly bill. WF should not have any rights to it!

Or they're trying to curtain any additional future fines by the government.

Who says you can't text co-workers? As long as it isn't business related, you're fine. You can still complain and bash away

Also, I'm in WIM, which means more scrutiny. Is that happening in other orgs too?

Agreed. TheLayoff is where I go to get the “real” scoop on changes at work…the stuff you’ll never see on the TeamWorks homepage.
