Another security executive is leaving

Duo has resisted assimilation into Cisco more than any acquisition I can recall. You couldn't tell Cisco owned Duo, even inside the company. Everything they did was stand-alone and branded differently. Now of course the powers-that-be are pinning all the hopes of Security on Duo. Duo is the new Firepower.

He got paid a cool $2.35 billions. Not a bad sendoff package. Now he will go found another company and sell it to Cisco, and repeat the same process again.

There’s nothing special here, it happens all the time with acquisitions. The Founder has to stay on for an agreed period of time (usually three years with Cisco) before they get their money.
