Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why I'm still here

I want to leave because of the constant layoffs, lack of proper raises, and the overall toxicity of the company. But I'm part of an amazing team with a great manager, and I know how rare that is. It’s hard to find a group where there aren’t any a--holes or backstabbers in your immediate circle. It’s never happened to me before, and I’m not sure I’d get that lucky again. That’s why I stay.

I don't care how long it takes, I'm not leaving without a severance. Because F Shart.

I have been lucky to be on a good team of people who are kind, helpful, and all have a decent sense of humor. That is a plus, but not why I stay...send me packing with severance and I am out of here. Charlie is one of those types of people who have a fractured soul to be CEO and lay off thousands of workers.

Maybe because all of the decent jobs are in Hyderabad nowadays where all the sneaky Indians can steal customer info.

I've been with Wells over 25 years and have had many managers and teams during that time with only a couple I didn't care for. In those situations I did something about it and changed roles. People are always going to complain, and those that are unhappiest will complain the loudest which is why we see so much negativity on this site. People who are generally content aren't on here talking about it and as a company with over 200k people, my guess is there are more happy people than unhappy. There isn't anything happening here that isn't happening elsewhere, the difference is we have pretty good benefits and a decent severance should we get laid off. I'm likely going to get laid off in the coming months and while the news of this still stings I am coming to terms with it and don't hate my manager for it as it is out of their hands.

I've been with this company so long, it's a revolving door of good / bad teams with mostly toxic managers. This is because of the neverending re-orgs. The dust never settles and it's impossible to determine what will happen.

remember, the grass isn't always greener. I have a similar situation to the OP and I put a lot of value into that and the work life balance it provides.

OP,
Yeah? Good for you. Glad your concience is clear now that you told us.
In reality, wait a while, things will change and usually is for the worst.

OP speaks for me, 100%. I read this board and Glassdoor and it’s like I’m in an alternate Wells Fargo timeline. I feel lucky for myself and sorry for others at the same time….
