Tightening the sc--ws!

AT&T, along with many other major companies keep tightening the sc--ws. I just don't know how much more I can take. Yes, I know they are trying to weed out all the non-performers, but it's having a horrible impact on my mental health. I'm a top performer but still worry that I'll get a pink slip.

Most of these problems are brought on by hanging out in places like this without the ability to filter. A common issue among some of the younger people in the company and in the country. It's the flip a switch because of a tick tock situation

Problem is everyone still approaches employment at corporations like MadMen era of 1960's , that time is long gone, Today's corporations work on hybrid managerial approach of Jack Welch (Stack ranking, today we just will use AI to test and yank) then everything is hyperfocused on short term gains, so those involved can make bank and pull their golden parachute (Randall after Warner media merger) . Finally labor is not an asset for T its a subborn expense that needs to be trimmed at all costs.. This is the modern corporate world we live in, adpat or perish..

Maybe you really are a top performer. Everyone is vulnerable to job loss at t. You might have a job function that is redundant or can be offshored. Maybe you live far from a hub location. Maybe your division can be sold. This is a struggling company. Probably best to look for another job and have a backup plan.

When I was there, annual appraisal did the talking. Sat, more than sat, or outstanding. If I'm not on a PIP, where's the stress? High performers should have an appraisal that reflects that high performance.

I can see employees being able to handle the stress short term. I just don't believe we can handle the stress long term. Time will tell.

We're not all top performers and we shouldn't have to be. This isn't the NBA. Or Netflix.

“ I'm a top performer…”

Of course you are.

As are all of the many thousands sent packing over the last few years.

You seem like the stress is ki-ling you. Are you absolutely certain that you are a top performer?
