So this found this article insightful especially since its talking about T directly..
High performers are the notable exception to strict return-to-office rules https://fortune.com/2025/02/09/top-performers-rto-rules-favoritism-toxic-workplace/
Thoughts is this bs journalism or reality.

I wouldn't say I get special treatment, but I did get a relocation package. So they 'need' me, but they also know I'm of the age and position in life that I probably won't leave.
Top performers are just that, TOP Performers. Of course they’re always going to get special treatment because they’re worth more than the average employee. Those folks hold it over their manager’s head saying that they will leave at the drop of a hat, so T will do whatever is necessary to keep them around. If you have a baseball team, who gets the most play and privileges, the best player or the worst player? If you’re expecting fairness you’re going to be really disappointed unless you’re in playing in the peewee league where everyone gets a turn.
In the office now and listening to a loud mouth talking to someone else about how they don’t have to report 5 days until March?
Why are some orgs waiting?
Everyone was supposed to be 5 days RTO 1/6.
No, this isn’t Atlanta, so it isn’t a question of available desks. This is orgs doing what they want and disobeying the Stink.
The 5x8 RTO schedule did prove employees had not been doing productive work from home. My first thought was those employees would be surplussed and we might get backfill to replace them. Nope, the poorest performers did not have to relocate, and now work from home full-time. Fool me 37 times...shame on me.
Let’s be for real. Leadership that values their employees allows them either. Leaderships who value themselves with an agenda of getting us to quit insist on RTO.
Wfh wasn't consistent before covid. Some groups had more wfh days. Some had none. T doesn't have to treat everyone the same.
No, they didn't have to treat everyone the same...until it was pushed as corporate wide policy. They've opened themselves up.
“Yes, 5X8 or TERMINATE!!!!!”
You corporate pro RTO st00ges need termination…from the land of the living!

No, it's the same pathetic putz clearing his cache and voting against popular opinion over and over again.
Most everyone in my group has been told to RTO in a hub. Said farewell to those who chose not to move last week. Of the survivors, most of us have to do our prescribed RTO until we move, with either 3 or 5 days depending on location. Somehow, the under 40 coworkers have been told they can WFH until they move while the rest of us are still going in the 3 or 5 days as instructed. What the he-l?
Yes, 5X8 or TERMINATE!!!!!
Boo hoo..
It's not fair.
You guys just figuring this out?
The young employees in TDP don’t have to report 5 days a week like everyone else.
It’s part of John’s plan to get rid of the old employees like he said he would in the town hall.
It’s clearly age discrimination and ATT has already paid out damages. All you have to do is hire an attorney.
Maybe sales and marketing. The rest of us are 5x8. I’m on the most crowded floor in 1025 and I kid you not GRE was walking around talking about how to squeeze more desks in. Maybe they can do double deckers next, double up at the tables. Crazy town.
“Chris Pelesky, a former lead channel manager at AT&T, told The Wall Street Journal he found inconsistencies with enforcing the company’s five-day RTO mandate. He noted “many cases of favoritism,” and that some employees were allowed to be more lax with the policy than others.”
This is true.
There are still groups only doing 3 days a week. There’s still groups doing 2 days and there’s still a lot of people not coming in on Mondays are Fridays.
I’m not blind I see and hear it because I am in the office 5 days a week, constantly wondering why I’m there instead of working from home.
I guess is depends on the type of performance we’re talking about. There’s a lot of “su-kers” being rewarded for not being in office. Key word…”su-kers.”
More than a few have already shifted back to a local satellite office that is not in webphone.
5x8 or terminate
Even if it's true it's understandable. You can't pay your top performers more or give extra big bonuses or connection awards give them a couple extra days not having to come in. If you want those days be like those people.
They mean top performers in sales you nerds 🤓 😤 No one cares if you’re the best at excel..
I am a engineer/developer, Mr/Ms used car salesman.
They mean top performers in sales you nerds 🤓 😤 No one cares if you’re the best at excel... You’ll work 5X8, MM and Plat are coming in as little as possible, we’ve all got “meetings” in the field 😉

2024 Top Performer here and told 5X8 no wiggle room for anyone.
If you are being told to 5x8 then you know you are not a top performer. Get to work
Anyone not meeting 5x8 after a temporary scale back for a few groups while offices are expanded will lose bonus eligibility and end up facing termination.
T does not care about performance
