Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Promoted without any say in the matter.

My manager told me last month that I have gotten promoted from P3 to next level. I didn't want the promotion and asked why I was promoted without any say in the matter. My manager did not want to hear any objections and was annoyed at me. Since this was before bonus discussions I didn't argue back much in fear of it affecting bonus. I saw the paybump was only 7% despite having an exceeds performance rating and a promotion to P4 level.

I'm thinking of quitting after bonus payout, but wanted to see if there is anything I can do? I'd love to have stayed at my P3 level. Any suggestions/tips would be great.

If you are seriously thinking of quitting make sure you have a new job first.

Years ago I was promoted into a position with higher expectations and no raise. When I objected, I was advised that the promotion could be reversed. Another manager came along about a year later and made an upward salary adjustment. It was long overdue and I was behind. This was pre-Scharf. It's unbelievable what goes on. So glad to be out of there.

You might look for P3 positions and post out for one. That might be the only way to get back where you want to be.

"You also might be eligible for more bonus dollars due to higher level" Not any more. When bonus target was based on role, yes, that was true. Bonus target is now based on last year's bonus and peers.... so, perhaps slightly but it will all be watered down soon as no real target anymore.

I was offered a promotion pre-Covid and turned it down. A lot of additional responsibility for $1500 bump? Not for me. Others jumped at the promotion and ended up regretting it.

Why would you not want a promotion and pay increase? This site never ceases to amaze me.

Don’t know if this is your situation, but WF loves to cheat employees out of a annual merit increase then shortly after “promote” employees to a higher position with more responsibilities and slightly higher pay, so they don’t have to compensate you the same way as if they were just hiring someone off the street.

I am the same. I work in risk and got promoted with no real change in money or work but now I have to make more bogus points to justify my existence. I hate this place but can’t find same money outside wells.
