Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Goal setting.

The request for us to "set our goals" via email is an absolute joke and seems to be an inefficient use of time and, frankly, somewhat disrespectful. In my area of work, no employee has ever received meaningful feedback from their manager. The narrative remains unchanged: "This is the firm's directive," "Meets is the new exceeds," and "Ratings are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things."

Perhaps a more constructive approach would involve managers providing their employees with genuine end-of-year evaluations. If a team has three individuals who truly exceed expectations, they should be recognized accordingly and they should hand out three exceeds. Otherwise, the current goal-setting is a complete waste of time, energy and resources.

WF Ratings:

Goals are pointless. Even if you think you meet the criteria, it seems managers are reaching for reasons to give employees inconsistently meets. It's demoralizing to work toward goals only to be told that it was inconsistent based on feedback from some outside stakeholders that subjectively provide their feelings. I'm so over this place. Go ahead....lay me off.

Wells is the old Jack Welch/GE model of "rank and yank" system. At GE you had a somewhat objective way of measuring performance (Six Sigma). At Wells, you have a who is the biggest bully with the most bulls...t contest.

Goal for 2025: 1). Get nepotism intern with Fraggle Rock hair fired, possibly by making it look like he is stealing office supplies.

I forgot this was even a thing. I happened to be in workday and actually deleted my three entered goals which I am pretty sure I put in back in 2023. I don’t remember getting this directive in 24.

Either way it’s an absolute joke. I do get meaningful feedback and guidance from my manager. Only problem is none of it gets followed through on because of Wells is wells.

Goal: do as little work as possible until I'm given a package.

Have to set 2 goals and they have to be measurable. Yeah! My goal is to not give management a reason to fire me to lay me off. Goal 2 trust no one in the office. None of my peers have my back as they have to lookout for themselves and their family first.
