Yep. Gen X here. I am willing to pay more money for a product if it means I won't have to deal with a sales person. I can't stand them. Just smarmy little trolls that are incredibly untrustworthy and waste my time.
Yes, tech is gone, quant jobs are for H1B. I have the degrees and they still push older workers out. I don't know where I can go.
For now, sales is the best place. The products and services this bank provides must be created, underwritten, and maintained by the bank. This is where IT (tech) comes in. So far they are holding on. But this bank isn't a SOFI, a HOOD, or Rocket Mortgage.

As long the company you work for has what you sell as a strategic priority, yes! If not though, you’re in big trouble and this isn’t something we have a ton of control over other than trying to be perceptive of the future.
