Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I have seen plenty of Directors and AVPs as

Well as middle management in their flashy rides and dual income McMansions. One income goes it's all a house of cards. Stay lean and mean young g-ns and save your money.

When I was a 1st line 35+ years ago a Director told me to max out 401k etc so when I got to his age they couldn't f**k with me as they did him. Great advice

"That's why I live in the basement of a Central Office.
Free room, utilities and all I have to do is buy bread and bologna."

I (for one) am not impressed with their festooning themselves in the plastic trappings of “success”. Why they care not for my/our opinions, the feeling is mutual.

Middle manager here. I drive a 10-year-old Toyota. House has been paid off for a couple years. No credit card debt, no debt of any kind.

I would pretty much guarantee those "younger" VPs (I'm an "old" guy in my early 50's) ---in their greater Dallas McMansions can't say the same. They are a divorce or layoff away from financial ruin.
