Thank god! A tracking tool to help us build the culture “WE” want.

Culture is simply a reflection of what the majority seem to want and in this regard it can not be built if it's inhabitants are depressed and demoralized.

Culture resides in the hearts and the souls of it's people. It can not be forced or fabricated.

"And it's even actually worse than that. We were told if you don't put in your 8x5 and instead maybe leave early one day and make up for it on a weekend by even working more hours than you missed on the one day, well, still too bad. You were supposed to be there the 8x5 to "collaborate". And we were also told it's not really 8x5 but some other larger number that they won't even tell us because you are supposed to be taking periodic breaks during the day and they don't count against your 8."

I flat-out reject breaks or lunch. I’m glued to my damn desk for eight grueling hours, dragging myself up only to pi-s. I’ll shove snacks in my face at the desk, or if I’m starving to death, I’ll grudgingly order Jimmy John’s for delivery. I’d rather fork over $20 for a lousy sandwich to be dropped off than waste 20 extra minutes of my life at this hellhole.

“Now, it's up to you whether or not you want to just do the bare minimum. Well, like Brian, for example, has 37 pieces of flair. And a terrific smile.

People can get a cheeseburger anywhere, ok? They come to Chotchkie's for the atmosphere and the attitude. That's what the flair's about.

It's about fun.”

“Um, you know what, Stan? If you want me to wear 37 pieces of flare. like your pretty boy over there, Brian, why don't you just make the minimum.“

8+ hours in office is the desired outcome of this corporate social engineering.

If dystopian is the type of culture/workplace environment they are aiming for, they are succeeding.

I’m just glad I’m not the only one experiencing the fact that I easily work 60-80 hour weeks including holidays, nights, and weekends (with no additional pay). Yet, get flagged on a report for leaving the office early & finishing my day from home. Btw, that’s after a 1 HR 30+ mile commute each way… Awful way to retain hardworking young talent.

We will track the office hours of the employees who DON’T get paid extra for weekends, nights and holidays.

I left in 2023. So you're saying that things have continued to get worse? Yikes.

“ This getting more like a labor camp here. Track employees, cram them on the floor, threaten them with layoffs, take away benefits, force them to move hundreds miles away.”

The new “culture”.

How to succeed at AT&T:
Step 1: Drive to work.
Step 2: Look at wall clock for 8 hours.
Step 3: Drive home.
Step 4: Post on Layoff about RTO.
Bonus points if you’re a white male.

"We will track the office hours of the employees who DON’T get paid extra for weekends, nights and holidays."

"Salaries are different from wages, which are based on the number of hours worked. Salaried employees receive a consistent income regardless of how many hours [and when] they work"

If they expect the employess to conform to a wage based system, the company also potentially subjects themselve to the labor laws requiring tttttttthe payment for OT. The reason salary positions exists is for Execs

"Next report that needs to be built:

Employee Misery Index"

They did that last year with the 100+ question survey. When asked our org town hall just 2 weeks ago about whether the results would be shared with employees (as they seemed to indicate would be), what we were told was that, "Leadership used the data for their intended purpose".

Take away retirement healthcare
Take away vacation days
Take away pensions
Take away desks
Take away parking
Force relocation
Track hours in office

Not sure how much more the “culture” can take.

OP just said the funny part out loud. A tracking tool to help build a culture we want. That’s funny stuff my man. Are you sure this isn’t Jeremy Legg? He has said many equally stupid and funny things like this.

Help me understand funny man. You’re going to monitor the he-l out of people to arrive at the most deceptive, worker-bee, ant-farm like worker mentalities that tick all the “engagement” boxes? You realize that the AL/ML model was created by the least skilled and most biased wack-a-mole doofus data geek dude that we have right? That should be comforting to know that your results are iffy-jiffy.

Good luck with all that. I’m very busy myself but just stopped in to sit on the pot, flick a booger out of my nose, amd waste 20 minutes in the first stall on the right of this pi-s smelling bathroom.

YOU are being tracked and it WILL be used for disciplinary purposes up to and including dismissal. Even your thoughts are being documented as well as your dreams.
