Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Stop with the pre/post covid rhetoric

The overwhelming majority of people here “pre-covid” were never required to be in an office 5 days, ever. It was always 1-3 times per week or fully virtual.

If you were required to be in an office 5 days a week before Covid, then you probably still need to be in an office because your job requires you to be. Others are not the same, so STFU.

the pandemic sc--wed us, but only because stupid people wouldn't shelter at home for just TWO weeks, enough for the virus to die out back in March 2020. I digress. I was fully remote for years before the pandemic hit and did my job as a high performer but then everybody had to be remote because of the pandemic and the small minority that plays loose ruined it for EVERYBODY including fully remote before the pandemic such as myself and OP.

Except there are no conference rooms…

But there were 50 years ago, so 'conference room' makes the 50 year equivalence. Again--over the head. Damn, this is like talking to teenagers.

But yes, there are still conference rooms at our property, and I have seen posts about multiple people sitting in conference/meeting rooms at shared tables in Atlanta. And how the he-l would all you "I've only ever been remote or once a month (or whatever)" guys know if there are conference rooms or not. So to repeat the original post, just because yours doesn't have them doesn't meant that others don't. "Others are not the same..."

"They had Teams 50 years ago? Dang."
You are a special kind of stupid!

As are you if you can't detect sarcasm. That comment was pointing out the ridiculous hyperbole of "This isn’t 50 years ago. You do not need to be sitting in an office taking teams calls to be effective anymore." No one was taking Teams calls 50 years ago, or even 10 years ago.

If he wanted to exaggerate that 'this isn't 50 years ago,' a much better comparison would have been that "you do not need to be commuting to an office and sitting in a conference room, or even at a desk to be effective anymore."

I was hybrid since 2015, thats almost 10yrs ago with assigned cubicle to come in 1 to 2x a week with no hr restrictions. Covid has nothing to do with the 5 days. RTO has always been a layoff in disguise. Dont lose focus.

Not only were we in a hybrid work situation, but also had our own cubicle (not table).

Yeah...I probably wouldn't have hired on in the last 4-5 years. Too much instability and too many changes. I can see how it's frustrating for people who entered the workforce in the last 5-7 years.

I was brought on as remote, and in less than a damn year, that Stankster totally sc--wed me and everyone else with this infuriating RTO garbage. The worst part? I ditched a perfectly good fully remote gig to join T. Hands down, the d-mbest freaking move of my entire life.

That’s just what you ASSUME.

No, not what I assume. I talk to my teammates. We know each other. We know who's in office; who's working from home one day, etc. Perhaps you're just ASSUMING that an overwhelming majority of the management work force has been WFH for a decade give or take.

Everyone was always assigned to an office. That doesn’t mean they went in everyday. How slow are you?

Stop living in the past! Current job requirements call for most to be in the office 5 days/week. No more payroll retirees.

Jesus Christ--you remote ba----ds are easily triggered, and apparently have a lot more time to be rage posting than the rest of us.

(I'm on lunch BTW.)

I know and have worked with only a HANDFUL of people who were remote or even hybrid workers.

That’s just what you ASSUME. Pre covid there was no mandate of minimum days or hours in office, no tracking either. I’m here to tell you that you are mistaken. From your little non-hub office.

Buddy, OP is talking about before Covid, not now you d-mb MF

If you're referring to @a1+1jmmtf8dm, then I was talking about pre-COVID. In over 25 years with T, I know and have worked with only a HANDFUL of people who were remote or even hybrid workers.

Think what you like. Not a hub, but I also interact with a lot of people in multiple regions, and those two people--neither of whom actually started as remote, are no longer with the company. And of all the teams and groups I've been in, none were hired as remote. I still say that not as many people are remote as would constitute "an overwhelming majority."

*I'm management, not a tech; not call center. While I have been in roles that would have required being onsite to perform some functions, I could theoretically do my job 100% remote.

And now Stankey wants EVERYONE in the office 5X8. No exceptions. Either pre or post Covid status.

You must be in a small office then. Or a liar. Or a new hire. You’re clearly not educated on the truth.

Overwhelming majority? I know of one person in my office who went mostly remote because of commute. I had people on my team in other states who were remote. But overwhelming majority? Not even close.
