The proverbial writing is on the wall. Inarguably the most efficient use of resources. It also answers the question of how much more of a he-l can they turn this into for employees.

That's fine, I'll show 'em, I'm a gonna quit.
I work in the Central Offices in a metro area, it’s been 24x7x365 coverage for us for over 30+ years. Call centers and some support groups have been doing the same, welcome to our world. If you are wondering, you never really get used to it but one learns to adapt and overcome.
3 shifts would be better than walking through every floor looking for a desk
“OP-
Is this confirmed or speculation?”
Confirmed. All management groups must have 24x7x365 coverage with existing staff starting 4/1/25
If you’re not 24x7 do they even really NEED you?
OP-
Is this confirmed or speculation?
24x7x365
Would be hilarious. 24x7 for roles that don’t require it is definitely not the most efficient use of resources. The collaboration that they keep talking about would be worse than 3 day rto
Free up a lot of space during the day if they would offshore all the application development roles
be careful what you ask for. you are just asking for more control, more micromanagement, more tracking and a tighter rope on your neck
Clown Executive Officer
That is why they are leaving CA....overtime is mandatory even if a manager with no direct reports.
OP- repeating an earlier Poster, but is this for real?
Already doing this on some teams. Used to be full time WFH because of coverage needs. Now it’s 8x5 in office, no flexibility and you still have to have coverage outside that you don’t get any credit for. No we aren’t making bank or paid extra for it either. Leaving this he-l hole on the first thing smoking.
That would probabl warrant a class action law suit.
The blue post it notes are a system similar to the parking meter maid.
I saw that someone put one on my keyboard and the next day I brought in very large piece of blue construction paper. I rolled it up like a flag pole and put the American flag at the top of it. Lefty shifty schiff types steer clear so now I have 50 percent less competition for my patriotic desk.
My shift begins at 8am so it is easy to get a desk. Between 10am and 1pm I see people roving the floors looking for a desk to use. Granted this lacks accuracy, but I've noticed a lot of people come in, log in on their laptop and then leave. Meetings elsewhere in the building maybe? Yesterday someone who usually sits near me put little blue post-it notes on the keyboards of 15 of these seemingly abandoned laptops. We had a laugh about it and I forgot about it. I left the office about 6 hours later. I noticed a blue sticker as I was walking down the row I usually sit in. I looked around and saw 3 more. I don't know where she put all of the stickers, but 6 hours away from your laptop? We have a shortage of desks and a significant number of people who have taken coffee badging to a new level. They need to monitor sleep mode or network activity and move the frequent abusers to an
off-hours shift. Coming in 5 days a week is a tough enough transition without competing for a workspace with someone gaming the system.
I do wonder what those people first thought when they found the sticker on their keyboards. ;-) Momentary fear? Big brother is watching me?
This is nothing new for some organizations, 8X5 in the office and still required to be available 24X7. Accepted the job because of the flexibility of WFH. If we were working on a critical outage or turn up overnight, we had the ability to get some sleep and have a later start of the workday, no longer the case.
Too late, I’m already 24x7 and did a month of contingency assignment.
There is no he-l I have not seen.
Cookie pu-s or fudgie the whale?
Thanks, now I have a new nightmare to contend with.
They their daytime coverage will be garbage and they'll have to hire. I like the plan personally.
Are you speculating, or have you been told this?
