Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

All Hands (in person) scheduled 3 days before the event? IN THE EVENING???

Come on.
Booking (on the Monday before) an IN-PERSON all hands for Thursday from 4:30pm-5:30pm is a bunch of B S.

Tone deaf. Insulting.

They either do early morning meetings to include Europe or later afternoon meetings to include China. This one was afternoon. Get over it, you work at a global company. This is completely normal, find any truly global company that does it differently. 3 days notice is plenty. What a ridiculous post this is.

i decline meetings that are at sh-t times. if anyone asks me why i tell them i have other things planned, almost no one will press you on this and usually they will even offer to send you the meeting recording. as for all hands, you don't actually have to go and no one cares if you do or don't

Here’s an idea. Don’t go.

I don't understand the original poster's level of frustration at a meeting that goes 30 minutes after 5pm. Every week I'm put on meetings that start at 7 am or go through lunch or go late way beyond the end of the normal work hours at Nike. No notice, no consideration, just have to attend. It's a luxury to get more than 24 hours notice for any meeting. This is Nike work culture these days. We are cogs available for on demand work 24/7. If you don't like that reality I recommend finding another company. Having said that, I'm understanding that this is not great, and I do think it does not result in a good work life balance for many people. Sorry for anyone who thought things were or are any different at Nike, you might have been sold on the marketing rather than the reality.

@1vrh+1jmtJEDO have you no life outside of work? Nevermind. The answer is clear.

What’s wrong with a 4:30-5:30 meeting? It’s a little late in the day yes, but not beyond reason to the point of being “insulting”. And it’s a single meeting. You’ll live.

@1ulw your second option isn’t an option. There would have been a WARN notice posted months ago if it had anything to do with layoffs.

You all read too much into this.

You know the drill.
it's either:

  1. to update you on a c-suite management (I refuse to use the word leader in this case) change.

or

  1. if you received a different invite than your peer, one of you won't be at work on Friday.
