Thread regarding Ford layoffs

New way to push folks out

I have a disability. I have had it my entire career. Prior to the epidemic I was on a work from home only accommodation since immunity is a big concern for my overall health.

For the first time in 10 years, I am being contested by ford HR over my rating. I also went from other meeting or overachieving my PR foe the first time.

Ironically, I received my congratulations on 25 years and thanking me for my excellent service and loyalty the same day HE sent the letter requesting a full review of all my medical records with my medical care team.

I feel defeated, betrayed and disgusted. They could ask us to retire and give us a wee incentive and many of us “pensioners” would go happily and quietly. But they are forcing our hands with obvious actions like these only targeting 25+ years folks. My wife works in another area and says people are being treated similarity including her.

if you have 25 years, are waiting for a package to retire, and feel you are being forced out, let them fire you...instead of a package, you'll get severance.....same diff

Don't try to keep your job just to get a paycheck. Ford will know that you are useless and will eliminate you eventually.

I know of a person who works remotely for Ford because of a similar health issue (and has the documentation). This person is being told to return in office in second qtr or will be terminated.

If you are: over 50, have serious health issues, or are even remotely close to retirement - you've unofficially been marked with a "bullseye on your back. Yes, it would be nice if those in that category were gently encouraged to consider retirement - but that's a kinder gentler way. The sad reality is "kinder and gentler" are not attributes our upper management are known for. Keep it simple and find another job, before they force you to do so.

Get out whilst you can. China will eventually dominate our market since we are so far behind in the EV movement it's criminal. We have lost one of the most precious industries that was the back bone of this country.

Might want to take down your Facebook photos of you partying with your friends since you claim immunity is a big concern.

2022 and 2023 Ford fired many 23-28 year employees. They don’t give a d**n about you. Boston consulting put togther an algorithm 🙄 to pin point who to fire. Funny is all they had to do is pick white older pensioner males.

They were not see collaborators, so are well versed in discriminatory tactics.

Yep. I am sorry this is happening to you. Beware, they will fire you for some “business” reason that they make up. The real reason is due to your disability. This is called a “pretext.” Very common that this is done. It’s very difficult to prove. They can make up any business reason about your performance and fire you based on that. Also, they can’t request your medical records can they? Can’t you just get a note from your doctor and that is enough?
