Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Does this impact the ELT? Will they feel it?

Not a chance. Did they cause this? Yes. “You need to travel” post pandemic. Be with your teams carte blanche! Stupid Leadership leads to irresponsible leadership. Yet you will make the hardest workers pay. Those that get paid the least. That’s the reality today. BUT… could you be different?

The Board approved a bonus pool of 92%, yet what trickled down to most of the businesses was FAR less than that to allocate. Anyone with knowledge of the inner workings know where that discrepancy went?

Unbelievable, 5 SLTs earned ~50mil total! That’s equivalent to 500 jobs with average salary of $100k, or 1000 jobs with average salary of $50k!

"Does this impact the ELT? Will they feel it?" -- Are you serious??? SLT will continue to receive their massive bonuses, pay raises, and stock options. Just google to find out what the SLT receives. https://www.salary.com/tools/executive-compensation-calculator/david-m-cordani-salary-bonus-stock-options-for-cigna-corp?year=2023

They won't be ...they could say, 'We aren't taking a bonus this year or next, since our strategy and decisions didn't cut it." But no, that starts next year, and we all are responsible for their decisions, good or not so good.

It's pretty clear the OP is talking about how layoffs impact employees but not the ELT itself even though the ELT made the decisions that have led to layoffs. Maybe you disagree with that but nothing wrong with them stating their opinion here.

Hard to argue with them. The whole point of a leadership team is create and execute strategy that leads to a healthy growing company. That's not Cigna as we're dealing with PBM uncertainty and way too much debt, among other problems. That debt is something you can directly blame the executive team for. To the OP's point, who is going to pay for it? The employees who get laid off, for one.

Yes, they could be different. But why? What's in it for them?
