I am in Roanoke and after the RTO people are just wearing anything. We have always been kinda casual with jeans being what about 80% of people wear. I am seeing sweatsuits, leggings, track pants daily. Some of the women are wearing butt grazing skirts, skin tone thin leggings and midriff sweaters/shirts. It's a sloppy mess, some people look like they came in what they slept in. The elevators and parking lot smell like a combo of weed or whatever they are spraying to cover up the weed smell. People aren't at their desks working, it's so distracting trying to work with people socializing all day around you. I'm on a hybrid schedule and I am so much more productive when I'm home without interruptions all day. Is this just a my location problem or is it happening everywhere?

@tj+1jn4zf797, yeah but, these women are mostly black.
"butt grazing skirts" What's wrong with that? Need some eye candy to make for putting up with nags like you.
Who is eating the stinky cheese?
It depends on the location. My office is filled with Indian workers these days and I can smell curry every lunch time, which is disgusting. I don't recall seeing this many Indian workers 5 years ago.

Be grateful. I'm in the Midwest and would ki-l for this.
I have pride but love to be comfy... o shouldnt have to shave beard and wear dockers to prove to others that i am professional
In my opinion, dressing has nothing to do with politics, but with respect for oneself. Pajamas are for sleeping, work out clothes for the gym, t-shirts and shorts for after hours activities. Business casual for back offices are fine. Take pride in yourself.
I wore my Disney furry costume with crocs and no one blinked an eye
That yogurt was tastt but could you add nore vanilla next time
@d4+1jn4zf797 and by dishonest employees I'm sure you're referring to the executives that lied to employees and shareholders about opening fake accounts? Too bad their jobs aren't outsourced to India and the Philippines.
Wells Fargo is an Awesome employer that has for decades now been taken advantage of by Dishonest employees gaming their systems! No one is Entitled to open fake accounts to increase their bonuses! No one! But, Dishonest Employees feel they are Entitled! You were given an opportunity with an Awesome bank and you Blew it with your attitudes and Dishonesty! No wonder your jobs are being transferred to India and the Philippines.
My office smells like curry. No weed.
To the person that took my home made desk yogurt. I know who you are.
you should be thanking me that i do not come with just with underware. Most of building has old thermostat and it does not keep the temperature normal.
"People aren't at their desks working,"
Wait, wait, wait...wasn't that a "problem" with WFH? Wasn't the RTO mandate supposed to resolve this?
No more errands, watching TV, taking care of children. All work all day long, right?
Another fail, WF.
Hey man can we all just get along and smoke em if ya got em?
Sounds like a boomer rant wanting to fashion police and control other people's lives.
I moved to Roanoke in 2020 from New York. We live in Grandin and I meet new people all the time that moved here for the low cost of living. We have all noticed the constant smell of weed in the air around Roanoke. A few emails went out last year basically saying don't smoke weed while working, so senior mgmt is aware. I think the inappropriate clothing depends on the department but I do see clothing that would have you sent home at any other job.
I think with how we’re being treated with no assigned seating, constant threat of layoffs, poor leadership, mandatory RTO for no reason other then for real estate reasons (most people work with offshore or folks many time zones away) - morale is low to begin with…so f**k it who cares what people are wearing to work at this sinking company? As long as as you covered appropriately and don’t have bad hygiene I could care less
Oh, nevermind- of course it's the crazy guy messing with the votes again. He's never met a weird reactionary stance he wouldn't blast upvotes on without really grasping what people were talking about.
What tipped you off that the guy that the guy humblebragging about how much he stock he has, somehow cares about a criminal bank achieving "greatness again", and doesn't actually believe in personal liberties even when they don't affect him might be a conservative???
Will conservatives ever stop whining about what other people do with themselves?
You don't like the modern office culture? Go build your own empire where you can hire the out-dated talent pool that dresses and talks the way you talk, about the subjects you care about.
Otherwise, sit down, shut up, and do your damn job like all the comfortably dressed people are doing.
@ap+1jn4zf797
Well lucky for you I moved on years ago, so you don’t have to worry about leaders like me bringing things down there.
I for one still believe WF will find its way back to greatness again one day though.
I believe the current leadership and culture are transitional and not indicative of a long term strategy. They are serving their purpose of purging the system of losers like you, and then they’ll be gone.
I still own a significant amount of stock and am very comfortable playing the long game and holding on to it for another 20 years if necessary until the cycle completes itself.
"weed problems" lol
Sounds like most of you have no idea what it’s like keeping a large phone bank staffed in a small rural town like Roanoke. If you did, people wearing sweats to work would be the least of your worries. These are some of the lowest paid, least desirable jobs in the market. You take what hires you can get, especially on 2nd and 3rd shift. Anyone with a GED, a pulse, and no criminal record who can show up often enough not to get termed for attendance is a rare prize. These aren’t college educated analysts and consultants. There’s a totally different standard.
Roanoke is notorious with weed problems.
Who is smoking weed?
I couldn't care less what people wear, go ahead and make a mockery of RTO. I come in, put on the NC, work for a while, and leave. You do you. FHY.
@aa+1jn4zf797, I work in a different LOB, in a different city. We don't have your kind of low standard. I head that Roanoke is a town filled with a bunch of high school dropouts. OP might be one of the few college graduates.
@a6+1jn4zf797, you are an id--t. Because of "leaders" like you, Wells Fargo is going down.
I work at headquarters. We we were told as long as the b-m, bits and bo--s are covered and no shorts or flip flops good to go. There is an array of dress in the office.
I think the problem is just your department. Maybe you should take your grievances to your supervisors or management. I am in Roanoke and I don't see the things you are seeing and experiencing. With the hybrid schedules, the building seems empty and is pretty quiet even with the construction going on.
Personally, I have never smelled weed in the parking lot or anywhere in the building. Pre-COVID, I heard rumors of people smoking weed in the parking lot. As far as the way people dress, there is a dress code and people were breaking those rules Pre-COVID.
Your complaints have nothing to do with hybrid scheduling, WFH, or RTO. All of that was an issue well before COVID for some folks in the building.
Welcome to operations. Don't like it, find another job.
@a6+1jn4zf797, as a Sr leader, you are not doing a good job, you must have a very low standard. We all love business casuals, but there must be a minimal professional standard. The workplace is not a high school party site. Things like pajamas should not be seen in the office. I don't blame OP for posting this. I would not want to work in that kind of environment.
Yeah, it's a bit ridiculous what some wear at Jordan Creek in West Des Moines. Looks like a high school, not an office.
I was a Senior Leader in the Roanoke Phone Bank many years ago, and I recall this always being the case. Even on day shift people regularly wore pajamas and sweats. Our attitude as a leadership team back then was, as long as they aren’t wearing something straight up offensive or vulgar, policing what non-customer facing employees wear to work just isn’t a priority. Being comfortable at work and maintaining professionalism are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
@OP argument is that RTO is bad for workers.
Could have just posted that instead of judging everyone.
Yep, happening where I have to "stall".
People yakking it up right over my shoulder while I'm on a meeting. It happens all day.
This work life in my career is the most disappointing I have ever faced. Been laid off before so that doesn't bother me as I have prepped for downtimes, but this sh-t is just so short sighted.
