Hopefully, by Spring, 2024, housing prices will be 50 - 60% off their 2022 peaks, then housing will be approaching affordable prices for average Americans.

Also, this economic downturn is going to devastate the pricing structures of cars and trucks - perhaps by Fall, 2023, cars and trucks will return to more affordable prices - even if the manufacturers need to reduce the ever growing technology presence in vehicles.

Now, if only the recession would force the FED to the sidelines and allow common market forces to establish the "real" cost of capital, $$.

So housing starts are going to plummet, contractors & consumers in general will stop buying new trucks, and the engine that drives model e (until it becomes profitable- yea right) will collapse. Whoo-boy I’m so glad I got broomed out in August while there we still jobs to be had!

Revolutions happen when people are starving.

Never heard of a revolution over high housing prices. That "cost of living crisis" leads to homeless living in tents but not revolution.

My neighbor thinks there is a great opportunity for a business that splits McMansions into 2-3 condos, each with their own entrance.

People have to live somewhere. I think you will see extended families living at the same address. More mother-in-law apartments over the garage, more bo-m-a-rang kids in the basement. Everyone pitching in $.

Housing has only decreased significantly in 1 recession... and it was the cause of the recession. I am quite skeptical of anyone that thinks we will see a repeat of that.

I think what you are forgetting is homes have become investment products in the US just like China has been for a while.
