Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are we allowed to work remote from Puerto Rico?

Because it’s part of the US? Has anybody tried? Just for a week for me

Why would Hawaii be excluded?

Working from another region is typically not approved (unless on legit business travel) due to tax impacts to the company. I had an employee who wanted to work from Canada while visiting family. I submitted the request and it was denied due to the above reason. I would not try to sneak it through. With the way WF is looking for reasons to reduce US workforce, they would use this. Gives them the opportunity of losing a headcount without having to pay severance. Not worth it to save a few days of PTO.

US territories with travel longer than 5 hours from the home location is treated as International Travel.

Cannot work (8 hours) from PR, Hawaii, Virgin Islands etc or any International location unless you have approved Buisness Travel. Occasional email from your BYOD device while on vacation is okay.

Not without prior written approval from Corp Security. Don’t risk it, Compliance will see, VPN or not.

Same question has been answered for moving to cheaper offshore workers even before Covid. No these shores, hint hint* RTO shows the drama with keeping unwilling workers
