Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

I’m taking the VRSP

I’m not concerned with the context or reasoning behind the VRSP, nor do I care whether it’s a better or worse option in practical terms. For me, it’s a fantastic opportunity to preserve my mental and physical health. I simply can’t stand or endure working here any longer. I don’t want to wait for the layoffs, nor do I want to quit now that this option is available. I can’t wait for the day I leave the office for the last time.

I totally agree it’s been mentally draining being at UHG since we switched supervisors .

So here is a kick in the teeth- they had a meeting saying now they need to hire more people! That is what a co worker who attended meeting said!

Good for all of those that are choosing to leave. Believe me, it's a little scary at first, but then, all the stress drops away and you'll feel so much better. Best decision I ever made was to walk away from UHC in 2021. I can't imagine how much worse it's gotten now, between the threat of layoffs and the economic uncertainty. Wishing all who choose to run, not walk, a wonderful future!

How much is a severance at UHG? Is it a company rule - 2 weeks for a year of employment?

Taking it also. Been here 30+ years and had been thinking about "down-shifting" to a non-leader role where I am only responsible for me. Worked out a plan with my financial advisor. Just need a job for a few more years until Medicare kicks in. This provides the perfect opportunity.

Let me know when they extend this to Optum Health. I’ll happily bump my retirement up a year.

For all of these same reasons listed above, I too have chosen to accept the offer and see what the next chapter holds!
God bless you all my UHC friends. Cheers to bigger and better ❤️

I also had planned to stay with this company despite how much I hated it, mostly because I thought I had job stability until I got laid off. Trust me, there are much better options out there. I found a new job and I haven't been happier in 15+ years that I worked at UHG

I don't want to work a desk job anymore. After 15 years it took a huge toll on my health that has been so hard to back track on. I'm spending a lot of time at the gym to regain the health that i lost

I signed up for it too. It is scary to have to start over, but the stress of this offer was eating me up. I wasn’t planning on leaving. I was planning on staying until I retired!
