Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

4 days office

Any updates on this? People managers currently doing but will in be expanded?

Also, does anyone know what work arrangement the summer interns and graduates are being told about for those joining this summer. Would be surprised if they would offer them 3 days a week office and then suddenly increase it to 4.

Does anyone have any data since the people managers changed was announced? In my department in Manchester, out of the 4 managers we had, 2 have quit (1 for external job and 1 moved internal to an individual contributors job which is currently just 3 days). I think it's making it hard to hire now, as most other banks in Manchester to recruit from require less days.

You are a total jack-a—ss. It’s not a lifestyle choice. It’s a choice to commute. Everyone has to do it whether they walk, bike, drive a car or take a train. And the Bank knows fully where you live and decided whether to hire you so it’s not a lifestyle choice for the company either. Bottom line- this place has become a kindergarten for developmentally disabled children like you. Telecommuting worked for 30 years and now it doesnt? No. The problem is we have a senior level that wants rid of people with any excuse

@na+1jnser874 We started 2 days some employees would swipe in and leave ten mins later, others would not make min. Then they changed it to 3 to make sure the data averaged to 2. People still don’t come in. Mangers had to babysit. BNY had to monitor IP addresses. Then a lot leave at noon so they had to crack down instead of keeping a good thing going. Have every right to be annoyed. Yes, BNY prob using that as an excuse and they want 5 days anyway. But if you can’t stay at least half a day bc you live 2 hours away it’s not fair to everyone else. Yes it is a lifestyle choice where you live and work. Reversely, I wouldn’t take a job in no where NJ or PA then give a s-b story about my commute.

I know of people who have resigned due to the change in wfh, what happen to “work life balance” certainly do not hear the said any more just the bs about the “free coffee”.before Covid my group we all wfh 2 days a week, why isnt RV and his cronies focused on the people who are home based and clean house there and leave the rest of us alone.

The rumour is we will get a 3 month lead in this month or next...Anyone im interviewing now i tell them its a fluid situation and that full time in office attendance could come. No point in taking the role if its a major issue. We've already had several people hand in their notice as they anticipate this coming.

@dg+1jnser874 The clocking in and out is corporate wide. Even if your director is cool with it, people leaving 12 will still ruin it. 2 is the border but even that people made 1:20 the new 2 ocklock. Where you live is a lifestyle choice and if you’re commute is a lot over an hour then find a closer place to work or stay till the end. For those of us who need an hour- am I gonna ask the same director for an extra hour fake commute time to even out with a team member?

@b4+1jnser874 Probably depends on your director. We were instructed to leave lunch time since it starts to get busy around 3 and not everyone lives 15 minutes away.

3 days in the office for regular employees and 4 days for people managers was already implemented long time ago. As BNY follows Goldman and JPM, 4 and 5 days in the office should be implemented very soon.

Ridiculous. Jumping on the quiet layoff culture that’s going around I guess. The flex schedule allowing you to home home for pricing was nice. Although people stretched it and were leaving at noon which will probably ruin it for everyone.

Stop spreading rumours, rumour boy! Where exactly did you hear this from? You cannot expect us to take you seriously if you don’t mention the source of these nonsense rumours. Get a life and stop bugging us!
