Just received a FedEx notice for an incoming delivery from Basking Ridge. Picked up on the 26th, expected delivery tomorrow.

From text alerts via FedEx. I’m sent info anytime something is heading my way. It provides tracking and shipper info.
I went through a VZ rif where folks were given one of two meetings to join. One group had survived, the other RIF’d and told to report to conference room where management was waiting. Another one, managers/directors just directly went to cube to ask emp to join them in a conference room to get bad news. My manager was RIF’d during thanksgiving week. When I got back from my vacation he was gone. No goodbyes after 10 years. Thank God I took VSP.
Notifications are done in person (or via phone) and all necessary documents are accessible online after that.

The deliveries say to be delivered by 8 PM. Logic would suggest that it's the t-shirt or some other nonsense or it would be Overnight Delivery by 10:30 AM.
I was Riffed in Feb - home based employee. No FedEx package. Received a 15 min call invite the morning of for 8:30 am with my director. News was delivered that way and severance info emailed at that same time.
For remote workers: Severance package is overnighted to you for review and signature and will be accompanied by a HR phone call.

No. I did get notice of those shipping but they are coming from UPS. Different tracking info and delivery date. I was hoping that was it, but…
Not joking and hope you’re right. Timing is odd & at least one other confirmed the same. I can’t imagine what else they would be sending. Thought process is they send that off knowing the morning meeting would be complete prior to delivery, then carrier arrives a while later with paperwork. I would truly prefer to be wrong here but my suspicion is I’m not.

thats not how any verizon layoff works- ha ha ha- too funny cracking jokes at a time like this. they dont send paperwork before the conversation you would have with whomever lays you off, either your manager or hr. thanks for the laugh

Hopefully it is for something else. I went through this last year where my position was eliminated. I was notified by a meeting invite sent the night before for the following morning. I found another role and stayed with the company in my final days at the end of December 2021. I did not receive anything via Fed Ex through the process. It's possible that things are different now, but I have not heard of Fed Ex being involved before.

Not based out of BR. I never receive anything from HQ. Also, I have no incoming deliveries headed my way from anywhere else at this time.
Are you based out of BR? I have not heard of any part of process involving Fed Ex on notification day.
