Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Company loyalty and Quiet Quiting

There is still a lot of morale issues and frustration with workers. I know we have jobs but a major disincentive for working above and beyond and being truly loyal is the constant threat of mass layoffs and a track record of layoffs every few years. It seems Transformation finally broke many employees loyalty and will. Management has got to find a new first and only lever to pull or they will probably lose most of their talent. There isn't much will to go through a "Transformation 2.0" left.

What you are experiencing is the outcome of the progressive way of thinking. You must destroy all history, culture, stability, loyalty, pride, optimism and sense of enjoyment. Everything from the past is bad. Past success was rooted in inequity, racism and privilege. Let’s all be miserable. Are we done yet?

@cwcy We are all just dying to hear your "original thoughts on how to fix issues" , yet you have nothing. No wonder our country and the current left wing administration are a disaster considering increasing crime, inflation and socioeconomic divisiveness/unrest.

@8yzm Ah another "If you don't like it leave" guy. Such original arguments. "Let management take advantage of you and you need to like or leave". No original thoughts on how to fix issues. Just we are the best period and if you think differently get out! No wonder our country and the right wing are a disaster.

I heard a story (possibly true) about a guy in San Ramon who "loud quit" a few years ago. He swam across the fountain pool during lunch hour, to the delight of hapless worker bees champing on their tuna sandwiches and "Chevburgers", and was dragged out of the park by the security goons.

Quiet quitting is all media bullsh-t.
Folks are burnt out and just working normally.

We've been working the job of many people who have left Chevron with undelivered promises. Pay review 2021 was sh-t and the bonus got eaten up by inflation. Chevron is largely taking advantage of a highly productive WFH workforce.

Folks are burnt out and just working normally.

"Company loyalty" is an oxymoron. There was a time when it was real, but in the mid-80's Wharton, Stanford, and Harvard business schools began preaching that employees were interchangeable cogs, that companies could save money by keeping salaries low (i.e., people <20 yr experience) and making sure no one ever collected their pension (back when there was one). I remember about that time Texaco openly told their people, "think of yourself as a consultant to the company, not an employee". Anyone expecting loyalty from Chevron since that time is just fooling themselves.

It’s your choice to either say bye-bye or stfu and like it.

The company has got to do better with its employees and return some since of stability as we have none during the MW era.

Always remember. You can live your job but NEVER love your company because you never know when they will stop loving you! (Thus….layoff)!

Chevron hurt a lot of families during the 2016 layoffs. Many have still not recovered and went into COVID jobless. Don't believe the human energy cr-p. You will brain washed and go for a huge fall when Chevron shows their true colors

"Management actually listens to the survey results."

You'll have to educate us with one, just one situation where "survey results" caused the company to change its operating model.

"Management actually listens to the survey results."

Laughable at best.

Use the employee survey to express your concerns. Management actually listens to the survey results. If you want the company to change, that’s the only way.

The company pays employees just enough not to quit. Employees do just enough not to get fired. Not much more to it than that!

Yeah when people like Cramer sing your praises non stop means great for shareholders but bad for employees. Management really though needs to pay attention to employees as if people continue to fear layoffs all the time and keep getting more and more checked out its going to effect the company as time goes on. It would be a difficult legacy to leave if layoffs and employee disengagement is what you might be know as.

Welcome to MW's world. Those of us who saw what he did to downstream circa 2010 knew exactly what was coming.
