Thread regarding SS&C Technologies layoffs

They don’t really care about you

When you are not being treated or paid fairly, leave. They don’t really care about you or how you feel. Doing a really good job does not pay dividends like it used to. You are an expense to the company and the least amount of expense is better in their eyes. It is all about the money that bubbles up to the top.

It is very difficult to work for a company and find a way to ride through the ranks. In my experience, you get laid-off every 10 years or so and have to start over. I’m staying out of the corporate world now.

@3wuf+1jiIIJwd is 100 percent right.

I concur that a lot of companies for the most part don't really care about you. At the end of the day, you are just an employee number and an overall expense for the bottom line no matter how well you do your job. If they can save money on paying a salary plus benefits, they will find a way to eliminate that position and therefore that person from employment. SS&C has been losing some major big clients for awhile now to their competitors. So the employees they trained to work those accounts are no longer needed when the clients move on. I was told after the summer layoffs not to worry as I was a valuable member of the team and very useful. That I was a part of the team and a part of this family. All not true as my number came up to be let go due to the loss of business. So no matter how good I did my job, because the company failed to keep the client from not moving on and staying with them, I had to be expendable. It makes me feel like I didn't matter at the end. My advice to all is to keep your resume up to date because most companies, if not all companies, don't truly care about it if it can can save them money.

Well SSC and DST are both garbage companies to work for but if you have been looking since before Covid and cannot find a job paying what you think you are worth....you are overvaluing yourself or you are terrible at job searching. It is not easy but there are tons of jobs for good folks. If you are going on 3 years...look in the mirror.
