Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Tumbling market, April cuts

Last year's cuts were due to interest rates, this time around its the tumbling market that's gonna be the reason for the hammer to strike.

As other posts have mentioned, I can attest cuts are just around the corner.

Company calls end of March / April will confirm them.

Don't listen to your manager, they're lying.

Just remember everyone knew Biden had dementia and still didn’t elect anyone else. So his running mate had to fill in. Don’t blame people who voted for Trump, blame everyone who didn’t vote for someone other than Biden.

The market is tumbling, because some of you voted for a 6-time business banruptor who isn't a good businessman by any stretch of the imagination. Eggs got too high so you traded democracy for autocracy. Nice going.

Fidelity doesn’t have to issue warn notices because they always give 60 days severance at a minimum. The severance is the warn notices

Fidelity doesn’t have to post warn notices always. There are ways around it, like if 500 people are not let go from the same site, they don’t have to announce

Is WARN act only for public companies?

They can’t lay off positions then hire to replace those same jobs. If your job is essential you are safe. Like a manager with lots of directs or customer facing roles in busy areas

Wouldn't be in large numbers as they don't want it posted via the WARN act.

i wonder why it's always Brokerage and Personal Investing. What about the people in WI, they never get let go?

Rumour has it, third of employees in every division.

I won't be surprised if it's 10 - 15% overall across Brokerage/PI, which is what was discussed in the offsite meetings.

Can’t wait to see how many “cuts” they make this time! Is it going to be 700 again or 800? Anybody wanna bet?
