I joined the firm a few years ago, and left at the end of 2024. I have always felt underpaid and overworked. How does BNY continue to claim to pay competitively in job postings? I've had the pay bands methodology leaked to me while I was there, and there has been no substantial increase to pay bands since 2009. On top of that, leadership over hires cheap analysts instead of focusing on retaining top talent. I jumped to a competitor for a similar job I had at BNY and they doubled my base.

It's called incompetent management. The truth is that they don't a clue about what's going on or what their employees do. They all pretend to know what they're doing. It's all a big fake!
How do they continue to claim they pay competitively? Quite simple, they lie.
How do you get paid more? Leave and come back.
I’ve been here for a couple decades. BNY redid starting salary for entry level staff a few times. It always impacted my staff. Never my level. Just brought them closer and closer to my salary which wasn’t much.
When I joined BNY in 2018, coming from one of the top 3 consumer banks, my total compensation went up by 50%.
What was your objective in posting this here?
- To irritate current employees
- To provoke them into posting disparaging remarks about BNY
- To boast that you’re smarter than the team at BNY
- To prove you’re a sadist e
) All of the above
Senior associates (which is an I grade) are still at the same range from when I became one in late 2015. It’s a joke. I saw this was the case because of a LinkedIn job posting for this role in NYC where they had to put in the range. As an internal employee, promotions aren’t a great deal because you only get up to the minimum range in the pay band.
If you fall into one of these categories it may have been related to their discriminatory practices and not the pay bands
