Why are you special? Why do you think you can take up a whole room to yourself to sit and watch Netflix all day? We get notes saying to go to conference rooms and not have meetings at our desk yet every room is taken by a single person all day every day.
If people who needed an office actually had one, they wouldn’t book a private conference room.
Just go on in and sit down in the conference room and introduce yourself and start working. I left my office to go to a mtg with my laptop and was only gone an hour and someone took my space although my coat, brief, papers and coffee cup were there. When I came back to the room the guy asked me if I would take the rest of my stuff with me to find a new seat. You can't make this cr*p up pup.
I have severe gastrointestinal issues. Conference room is my safe fl-tulence space.
The core problem is not enough seats in general. However the system is allowing a ‘single person’ to reserve a 14+ seat conference room , so a team with an actual conference CAN’T reserve the room , since it shows unavailable.
Why don’t you quit complaining and reserve a room like everyone else. That’s why we have a reservation system. Sorry you feel so important that you should have a room ready and waiting for you just because you apparently think you’re so special.

I book my rooms weeks in advance in order to secure the space. The last thing I want is to be forced to share space.

You've got to do something about it, otherwise you're just enabling it.
I see multiple people in conference rooms, not just one person. If there is more than one chair in the room, it's available for sitting.
Have your meeting with them present.
