Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Life Lesson: Don’t stay where you are not appreciated.

Whether it be your job or a relationship. We’ve got one life. We all owe it to ourselves to strive for happiness, health, and respect.

If you allow disrespect long enough, you start to think it’s okay. You are the only person who can protect your peace, your dignity and your worth.

Can you take the risk of making a big move? Becoming stuck in a job you don’t love is a risk, too. I know it’s not easy, but when you start seeing your worth, you’ll find it harder to stay around people who don’t.

Charlie and his minions are all doing what they think they have to do to take care of themselves. That’s fine. I hope you do the same for yourself.

I'm retiring in 4 weeks because I can't put up with the sh-t show any longer. Happiest I have been in a long now I can see the exit. Toxic company and have worked for several larger companies during my career, I can honestly say Wells Fargo is by far the worst. All changed when Charlie arrived and it was down hill from there.

Lines up with the saying, it's easier to find another job when you have one.

Think outside of the box. Look to different businesses that are thriving and think about how your skills could provide value to them. Working for the big banks used to be a solid career choice but now it is proving itself to be a nearly certain path to unhappiness. I have 3 friends who have all made moves in this past year and are making more money and are happily working for good people. One went from insurance sales to the finance department of a car dealership owned by a successful generous local family. (From sales to sales) - projected to earn $300K to $500K/year. One went from one small local brokerage firm to an another local brokerage firm - same salary, but normal hours, ethics she can get behind and greater advancement potential. The other guy saw the writing on the wall with Wells. He played baseball in HS and college, and went from mining data at Wells to working for MLB.

The “work to live motto’” doesn’t work for me. It takes too many waking hours of each day. If you’re not thriving at Wells, take your talents elsewhere. There are (probably smaller) businesses who are looking for trustworthy people with a good attitude and a solid work ethic to bring on board. They say it’s just as difficult to find a good employee as you say it is to find a good job.

What a great post. OP is right. However, market is still bad right now. That’s the issue and HY knows. There are very few opportunities available for people to move.

From Babs:
"I got laid off yesterday from a job I really liked, for people I really liked. Just a reminder that you're disposable as soon as they decide you are. Stop working late. Stop reading emails after hours. Stop working weekends. A job is income to live your life, not your life."

All jobs are cr-p.
Play the game, Fight back if you're getting disrespected.
No need to run away.
