Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Voluntary severance when job duties change?

A couple years ago I saw something in either the handbook or policy library about the employee having the option of voluntary severance if they're job duties significantly change.

Now I can't find it so I contacted HR. Was put on hold for a long time before being told that she couldn't find anything 🤷

Does anyone have knowledge or experience with this? If someone's job completely and involuntarily changes, have you heard of someone opting for severance? (Unrelated, but many states have unemployment laws that allow you to collect if your job duties change. Wells does, or used to, have a similar policy with severance).

Mainly wondering if that includes the 60 day notice like it does for involuntary layoff? And how the process is initiated?

I realize my question is a little out there but the normal resources haven't helped.

Yes, there was a section in the benefits book under Severance section. I talked to someone in HR. They explained it wouldn’t apply to my role - didn’t matter if that was documented anywhere or not. This place will sc--w you no matter what is documented. Now I just follow the cash as others have said.

If you actually had something happen to you, is reach out to HR. Otherwise, no point in talking hypotheticals.

I recall it used to say a material change in responsibilities. However, that's fairly subjective. The 20% cut was there too, not sure if it still exists.

i believe it was always a severance trigger if 1) your job duties were changed such that you now need to commute to a location more than 40mi from your old location and/or 2) if your new pay is more than 20% lower than your current one. Otherwise i dont recall ever seeing anything about job duty changes alone triggering severance. good luck to you!

I don’t think it ever was for just job duties changing. But there was an option for severance if your job location changed (more than 50 miles I think), and you opted not to accept it.

You can voluntarily sever'ance' your employment (quit) at anytime. I'd cut the grass if it paid the same.. until somebody else pays me more. Not entitled and Cash Rules Everything Around Me.
