Been seeing a wave of recruiting happening on campus for US positions so here's my PSA to any "candidates" that find this site:
Only take the job if it's literally your only offer. Read the Bloomberg piece - it's accurate.
That is all.

My main question is who is doing the recruiting?
Who are the heartless psychopaths who lie to the young professionals and lure them into this mess?
Shame on you.
How can a company that pip (laid off) so many people have the courage of conviction to do recruiting.
Many only take the EM offer to get 3 to 5 years of EM experience on their resumes.
Many of the recent hires that survived the layoff departed in the next 12 months because they saw so many perfectly productive people fired with no justification except price of oil and transition to BTC.
This will happen again and again, every time EM Execs have an excuse to create a layoff. Fire the old people and the young people quit soon after. Move those jobs to BTC.
No career opportunities for new hires in USA.
I find it very difficult to imagine someone actively selecting Exxon now. Those who do must have a strong personal need to choose this company for a short term gain or stepping stone.
The pictures on LinkedIn portraying team spirit and fun culture is very misleading. Don’t be suckered in.
