Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Maybe next year = (

I was so excited about possibly getting riffed that I went to sleep feeling like it’s Christmas Eve and I’m hoping for Baby Alive (she was my favorite doll)

Now the packages have all been opened and it looks like I didn't get one. Another lump of coal for me I guess.
Sucks to be on the naughty list.

Leaving Verizon was a tough thing after 16 years. Last year I could see where Verizon was headed with doing less with more and in a sales world that can affect you and your reputation. Yes it was tough but when the leadership/management sucks the life and fun out of a job and your not happy you must look elsewhere. No Hostages right!! I am proud of my time at Verizon and we both learned a lot together. Reality is it wasn't me it was them and I knew my skill set would open doors. It did I interviewed T-Mobile and found that the culture - The passion for customer experience and offering amazing pricing for a upgraded network was a perfect fit for me. Over the last year I have seen some of the best talent at Verizon leave and it just seems they don't care. I may be wrong but I think they everyone is expendable and customers will be fine online.
Fear not- Look - Prepare and find a job that brings your passion back. Worked for me.

The call your director today and volunteer. But you want because you have no guts and are scared of the job market. Probably haven't given a real interview in 10 years.

For those who think this is insensitive to say this, no one is celebrating our anniversary team being laid off. This does not help anyone, it’s quite a lot more work we face every time and I think the point is we would step into that place for that colleague any day but that’s not how it works…and no, we’re not brave enough to leave on our own. It’s not insensitive to regret that our team mates are leaving, it truly sucks and no won wins here. Those left behind ready to face a layoff get more work, those who wanted to go stay behind. Yes, we can get new jobs and we’re fortunate in theory, but a voluntary sep would be more useful…but that failed last time when so many said yes.

You created that lump of coal and gave it to yourself.
You are CHOOSING to stay.

Since you're not happy - LEAVE NOW so someone that wants to work, can.

Quit and find another job. Sounds like you consider yourself un-hirable by any other employer.

Your comment is super insensitive to those who lost their jobs today. People like you should be rif, no empathy.
