Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Terminated W/o Warning

Just got terminated TODAY from AT&T because of breaching the presence policy. I was told it was a violation of Code Of Conduct. What BS!! I have been adhering to the 3 day a week policy but was only going into the office in Jan for less than 4 hours each day. AT&T has never provided to employees any official minimum hours policy. So which policy did I breach to be consider against code of conduct??? You maybe next! Plus employees were not provided the presence report until February which by the way has lots of defects. It even showed that I went into the office one day last week for 10.5 hours! Hopefully I have legal recourse.

Laid off last week for this reason as well.

If this is even true, you were FIRED, not laid off.

Laid off last week for this reason as well. What some folks in this thread is that it was optional for us to work our certain hours. Leadership has never said "be in office x amount of hours" in any of their communications or in their townhalls when asked. Emails from Legg was just how many days to report to the office, and many of us were just told to make sure to get our badge swipes in so it shows us as present in office for that day.

January was when they decided to track office hours with no heads up on what was the expected hours. A lot of us were ignorant to it until we got an email from HR that essentially was a warning to start clocking 6hrs of in office time (based on your laptop being connected to corporate wifi).

I'm assuming majority of us abides by the rules after it was laid out to us what the expectation was, but about 1.5 months later they decided to essentially say "hey, we're actually going to fire you for your january report despite you meeting/exceeding our in office expectations since your first notice where you were warned about your coffee badges".

this site is 90% paid traffic influencers with their fake posts. I have no idea why anyone who actually works at ATT would believe anything posted here. You'll know when you're getting laid off when your boss tells you and you'll be the first to know. This site is ridiculous. Find something else to do.

Who does a full day of work in four hours? Grow up! You have no recourse. We are glad you are gone .

People can complete, full day of work in 4 hours by automating bunch of stuff and I do(I don’t tell my manager though ), once my day la work is finished, I go on presenting mode for the rest of the day and prepare for interviews. Use the company coffee, internet to prepare myself.

I just wish to get some better chair or an afternoon nap place.

Who gets a warning before being laid off? I have never heard of that!

Each day you only worked four hours you should have taken 4 hours PTO if you really wanted to keep your job. Most people on this site say they want to be terminated. But cry when they are the ones that actually are.

“ Are you the one who went nuts in Teams?”

I heard this mentioned but didn’t see anything …were the posts just in the employees teams chats or also on Viva Engage ?

Honestly, this shouldn’t be any surprise to you. You tried to play the system and lost. If you were to have said, well I was in the office 7-8hrs but the report was wrong and I got fired, you would get some sympathy. That has happened and I know a few people filing lawsuits as I type; however, you admit to only doing 4. No offense but you got what you had coming.

File a grievance with NBLR. They will investigate and most likely side with you. This would restore your employment with restoration of lost pay and seniority. That'll show 'em.

We are in a massive downsizing right now. Do not give them any reason to fire you with cause. You want the severance and unemployment or better yet keep your job.

If you don’t understand the multiple violations in the pattern you described, you are an id--t. You deserved to he terminated.

Also remember the jury of your peers has probably been burned by AT&T a time or two.

I mean people cheered when the CEO of United Healthcare was put down.

Pretty good chance the public sides with you.

RTO hack for employees is to work at least 10 to 15 hours in the office to make up any report discrepancies.

In discovery for your lawsuit make sure your lawyer obtains a complete list of ALL employees below the “full day” metric.

Then in court they can ask AT&T if they fired the thousands not complying.

Then ask why not

It’s either 5x8 for everyone or it’s “disparate treatment “, there is only one policy.

I was told, and have it in writing, that I could do 4 hours in office in January. Then they changed it to 6 hours and then we got notice to start coming in 8 hours only 2 weeks ago. HR has said that the January reports are not accurate and I have that in writing too. It’s not fair that they are terminating people based on failed reports.

GTFOH! You were abusing clearly outlined RTO requirements and knew it. You should >have been let go weeks ago. #NoSympathy

You don’t know if OP worked from home after his four hour day in the office.
You also know that nothing was put in writing regarding minimum in-office face time.
Hey OP, state your age and race and let that be a gift to your attorney.

Who the fu-k only goes to work for 4 hours? I you drove there, you might as well stay all day.

You MIGHT have a snowball's chance if you can prove that you went home and worked at least an additional 4+ hours at home each and every time you left work early or the PTO to cover it.

I won't be next because I listened to what they were saying when told that they wanted us in office for full day. It is stupid that management can't be strait forward and actually say how many hours equals a full day, but you got to assume it is more than 4 hours. You played the game and you lost.

If you were terminated due to 4 hours in office, then yes, you do have recourse.

  • If you have it in writing that your termination was because of this.
  • If you have no documented performance issues or warnings.
  • If you have no official communication that a specific number was required.
  • If you are a management employee.

If all of the above are true, Sue! Sue! Sue!
