Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Please re-apply asap

For those of you impacted by the rif, be sure to re-apply for employment at Verizon if you want to stay on. You may not get the exact job you prefer but you can possibly remain on at VZ. Do this even if your last day is 12/31/2022. I had two good friends that did this, not sure if the "DO NOT REHIRE" was checked on their exit interview form. One got in 35 years then retired gracefully, the other one is still working at VZ with 31 years service.

Oh well. VTeam is VSteam....Vapor

There are good people on the ground for sure. Focus is ALL WRONG trying to please the investors versus focusing on what is a strength.

Vz presence will be non-existent in most companies. It will reflect in the numbers. Not sour grapes, just facts. I foresee a massive loss of business.

All the best to fellow former employees.

Nothing but good things to come for those no longer employed.

Let’s see how many of these positions let go today will reopen next spring. I’m in Network Ops, we had an older tech let go last fall. We had a spot open up early this past summer and got an internal transfer. I won’t get into the details but it wasn’t like the guy let go was topped out in pay and the replacement was off the street starting at rock bottom.

What a terrible idea. This company is failing. Hans will be chopped sooner or later and then there will be a whole other wave of chaos with a new leadership team. VZ is going to be a terrible place to work for the next 5 years.

If you do stay with Verizon, closer you are to the customer, the safer you are. Not saying customer facing or close to the customer doesn’t ever get cut, just less likely to happen

I agree with the others. DO NOT start flailing around hoping to find something else at Verizon. Trust me it is a gift, and almost everyone I know who has left only wished they had done so sooner. Let them live with the empty positions and loss of talent, knowledge and experience. For the love of God row away from this shipwreck and do not look back.

If you have long tenure, take the package. It’s a year worth of pay with STI, vacation payout, COBRA.
