I moved from Austin to comply with RTO- bought a home and was in the process of officially moving , so I was only staying half days in office and working from home the other half - I got fired Tuesday because of not being compliant with RTO - needed to be in office 5 days week for 8hrs. Be careful, they are not playing .

Employees were being terminated for allegedly violating the Code of Business Conduct by not complying with the Return to Office (RTO) policy. However, the RTO policy as of early 2025 did not require a specific number of hours per day in the office. It only stated employees should be in the office 3–5 days per week, as determined by their Business Unit. The policy also allows remote work during normal hours when away from the office: "Employees with Office Worker designations must be available during their normal working hours when working away from their designated work location."
The widely cited “8 hours per day in-office” rule is not in the official RTO policy—it appears to have been added by individual Business Units. But the policy explicitly states: "Individual Business Units may not modify this policy." Therefore, terminations based on not working eight hours per day in the office are not supported by the actual RTO policy.
If RTO meant was 8 hours presence in office building and those buildings too which is suppose to be ready by May then why to discriminate employees and fire only those who was in building for less than 3 hours. Terminate everyone who soend less than 8 hours in office. And also the current HR system and Management and leadership who failed to properly communicate that all employees should atleast spend 8 hours in the building. Its totally bad HR communication nothing else. Employees who adhere 3 days office mandate and worked 8 hours from anywhere should not be punished with lame excuses. Disrespecting your employees will lead to failure of organizational values.
Your first mistake was moving for this company. Leason learned, I hope.
Getting fired means no severance!
OP, why did you not go into the office 5x8 like you were supposed to? Claiming ignorance?
Anyone who thi is this is fake is fooli g themselves. Att has used the move or severance threat many times. The person doesn't want to burn bridges. A person willing to move takes their career seriously. They don't want to be dozed because many of our former coworkers left and returned.
Just know this. The company we love is not on our side. Att is a flag flapping in the wind. HBO, warner, direct, dei and too many more to count.
Att will outsource every L1 and L2 given the chance. Does that sound like hr shill speak?
People were fired last week if they fell below a secret threshold.
Then surely you have their names and work groups, right? Oh wait, you don't because they don't exist. U R soooo scary HR shill!
u are delusional if you believe this happens or are attempting to hide it as in HR
No truth to this story
“if they fell below a secret threshold. It was never communicated to the organization”
5x8 is no secret. All full-time employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours in thermos assigned office location. This is known to all.
You didn't comply with the policy. Plain and simple. So if your story is true, you got what you deserved. Go cry to your lawyer. I haul my a-s into the office every day for no good reason. You chose not to. I have no sympathy.
I promise if I ever get laid off by T, I will post my name and location ASAP.
These stories are not fiction. People were fired last week if they fell below a secret threshold. It was never communicated to the organization, definitely was not in writing, but by gos, you better follow it. This company is S H ! T.
More fiction. Number of people terminated for RTO non-compliance? Still zero. Anyone claiming otherwise is lying. The only terminations I am aware of related to RTO involve scanning in someone else's card, which is legitimately fraudulent behavior.
You have to work 8X5 to be compliant! Duh!
The AT&T HR Bots are out today. Gotta rally against the ugly truth that is AT&T.

I don’t know who these people are that keep post shatting, but no one believes you.
I 100% believe the OP because I’ve heard so countless times in the past.
It happens so often that when we had our recent meeting on this matter, the question was asked specifically.
If I accept my “job offer” will I be laid off once I sell my house and move to the new hub city location.
False.
No employee has ever been laid off within two years of relocating. Stop spreading these false lies
You know how we know this is a lie?
Your post is void of anger and disgust and with no inkling of revenge.
Sounds like you may have even written your post in between tu-d drops, if my word analysis is correct. More details or it has to be dismissed.
