Price tanks ahead of vesting every year b/c there are several tranches of exec comp (C-suite, MDs, iBankers, top Traders, etc.) that vest starting in late Jan thru early March a few days ahead of the "regular" employees vesting.

Plus dividend payouts on the various classes of Warrants (like the ones Buffet held) and Preferred Shares, which are considerable and also ahead of the "regular" stock.

So the payout of all those shares in such volume pushes the rest of us down.

I understand the Accounting benefits of RSUs for the company (plus the return of shares from those of us who give up and leave), but as an employee, I hate Options, RSUs, etc -- like trying to catch a falling kn--e with my bare hand. Every. Year.

Cash, please.

Ah yes, a truly groundbreaking revelation—companies structure RSUs to benefit themselves first. Who would’ve thought? But hey, glad to see you’re catching up on Corporate 101. Keep at it!

RSU's have shown to slightly raise stock prices (which makes the high level execs and Board members richer) and saves the company money by taking 4 years to vest with the first vesting not occurring until a year after the reward date.

RSU's are not for the benefit of the employee, though they could prove to be a big benefit depending on how long they are held for.

The other bad sad is that usually they tend to vest at a higher than normal price, as it appears they drive the price up similar to a large purchase of shares, which makes short term gains often difficult.

In high school many many years ago, an exercise was given where you receive $1000 to invest in stocks listed on a paper newspaper. It wasn't on a stone tablet in case you were thinking that. After 1 month, you determine if you made or lost money on the chosen investments. I did not do well on that exercise nor will I do well with the BOA RSU. This is why I prefer CASH only. For others, especially for folks making $100K, RSUs may be appealing to you. Not me. The process may be simple for some, but the numbers do not add up between vesting, requirements for receiving them during March madness, cashing them in, and interpreting the numbers in long and short term gains on the 1099s. If I received 1000 shares BOA RSU each year, maybe I would show more interest in the stock. However, this is not the case. Can someone remind me why we are getting RSU in an economy that changes like the weather controlled by brain dead politicians and business leaders? Before you know it, RSU will eventually be replaced with cryptocurrency.
