Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

People don’t leave jobs, they leave managers

Never really understood this until the last string of managers I’ve had. The company is not doing well and it’s obvious when there are so many people in the wrong roles and there’s no way to roll people into a new role because they’re so bad at their current role.

Yup… it’s not how competent you are… it’s how much you su-k up to him…And he has existed for years with full authority to promote those he likes… 35 years with Fidelity and promoting the ones who are 25-30 year olds… Oh love is in the year… accept it or you will not get promoted… ever….

Makes me worried that my company 401(K) is with Fidelity. Should I be worried?

Kids calm down. First of all the company is doing great. Not sure where you got the idea otherwise. Maybe hanging out on this site. From where I sit the only real problems seem to be we over hired so talentless people during COVID and tech is never happy.

Let go of all Grade 7 and above managers. Grade 8 roles, such as GCL, add no real value, and many in these positions are outdated and ineffective. Grade 8+ roles, in particular, contribute the least. Eliminating these positions could save millions, and these legacy roles should have been phased out long ago.
