Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Sad truth: We work for despicable people.

We earn our living by working for people who get rich by preying on people. We work for people who are getting rich by preying on us. We work for vultures who exploit their customers and squeeze their employees. We work for people who undermine their own country by offshoring American jobs. Despicable.

Zero ethics. A shameless culture of greed among the Senior leaders. They “fix” one legal abuse issue only to break new laws in pursuit of higher profits than they deserve through honest work.

So I’ve been asking myself how do I continue to work here? It’s not easy as I watch the sc--ws being tightened in all ways. My answer, for now, is that I have direct control over my own behavior and can “do the right thing” in my little corner of the business. In fact, I take pleasure in it. (I’m watching others, including some managers doing the same - nodding yes to the higher ups and then working behind the scenes to take care within their sphere of influence.) I have several licenses and protect my own reputation at all costs. I can still build a personal brand of integrity, dependability and a customer-focused mindset and that personal brand will follow me to my next move. Don’t let this place drag you down. You can stand up for good yourself even when you work for an immoral company.

If you have any actual evidence of the company purposely breaking the law you should report it.

Reality - you aren't happy (for whatever reason). You don't have any insight into systemic inappropriate activities.

Please prove me wrong. Heck, provide ONE example of illegal activity that you are privy to.

@cm+1jpp3dd28 When you're done guzzling the company kool-aid, go to a bar and ask all the patrons if whether they think WF is despicable or not and see what they say. If people ask why I work for a sh---y company like WF, its because I haven't told them why, ergo they already have their own opinions.

Such a boomer comment about coal mines, I'll say this though at least those coal miners can unionize and do something to get better working conditions.

Your contacts only think it's despicable because you tell them it is. Maybe change your view on life and things will be a little easier.bits not like you live in a coal mine

@OP I feel the same way. When people ask why I work for such a despicable company I tell them that I do what I can in my little corner to right the ship and push back against every new unethical guidance that comes our way. Some fight it on the outside, I do my part to fight on the inside against corporate greed.

You can show your peers that it shouldn't be this way and that it can be better if we hold ourselves to a higher standard than the company does.

You just described corporate America. Putting the sc--ws to everyone including employees so that billionaires can get richer.

Wanna talk about "zero ethics"? Anyone who feels personally compromised by working a job but still comes in everyday has no morals. If you are that bothered, walk out today. This is not a prison and you are not required by law to be here. Live your values and GTF out of here. Save us your moralizing

... or, if excellence isn't resonating with you, start taking WF laptops from othe floors and shipping them to random addresses of deserving people from the mailroom once or twice a week.

I used to be ok with our horribleness, then we got a Wall St. CEO, now I'm biding my time to get a degree and a package to leave this place.

I'm hoping to eat some of their lunch when I bail as well.
