April 4 day office rumour

Rumours in the Manchester office that it will be announced in April everyone will be in office 4 days per week. Does anyone know if this true? If so, when in April will it be announced and when will it take effect (presume 90 days like the people managers got).

The Bank of New York? More like the Bank of India at this point.
They’re rolling out the red carpet over there—chauffeur rides to the office, promotions every time someone breathes, and entire departments being shipped overseas like it's a clearance sale. And just to spice things up, they bring in brand-new UK managers who couldn’t find their way around a spreadsheet if it had GPS. Truly inspiring leadership

4 days in an office that only has room for 60% of the staff. People have to work in kitchens, sit on window ledges with laptops on knees…all just to save money and get the stock price up. This place is about to have huge problems….I can’t believe the EC can’t see this. There’s not enough room at 3 days a week due to the stupid location and in office strategy. What an utter sh*tshow this place has become. Can’t wait to get out…like most people.

I’m a manager and here’s the factual information. Yes, of course all employees will be moving to a 4 day in office requirement. The announcement date is set for June and the effective date will be September 1. That gives employees 90 days to get affairs in order such as childcare. The C suite and above are hoping for natural attrition at year end as a result. It is forecast that between end of year RIFs and natural attrition, there will be enough seats to accommodate the remaining workforce. Before you blame your manager for not disclosing this, or put them in an awkward spot by asking them to confirm these dates, we were instructed not to mumble a word of this because the upper rank want the reduction in numbers to occur at year end. I can’t stand this slimy company, so now you know.

Does anyone have a list of offices which would have issues with a 4 day office requirement, or know of any which have been recently expanded/reconfigured to accommodate more desks?

4 days has been rumored since we moved to 3 days. And it's always next month.

Look. It's probably happening sooner rather than later. But it's all speculation.

No it’s a rumour spread by people with nothing else to do with their days. Gossiping mongers

If there wasn’t such a stupid location strategy, RTO wouldn’t even be that bad. Reduce international teams, stop building huge offices in locations where the commute su-ks, seat teams together and next to their stakeholders, etc. It’s not that hard to make it so more than 50% of your meetings can be in person. Most people like in person interactions more than Teams and as long as you don’t hire dirtbag egotistical robots, you could actually have fun in the office. BNY brought these RTO pushback issues on itself.

This is likely true as they have been working to get construction done at a few sites to accommodate such a stupid rule. Can’t wait to be sitting around a bunch of people on the same Teams call that they have to have in order to include the overseas teammates 🤣. Robin Vince may actually be on the spectrum

I've been told the same thing by my director here in Pittsburgh. Everyone should prepare for it even people we are hiring we are being told to ask if they can do 4 days a week if asked.
