Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Tone deaf marketing VP for ibm.com

Posting a low-quality gif of a robot with the words “automate repetitive tasks” repeating again and again, talking about “recoup and reallocate people-hours for higher value activities” two days after a massive marketing layoff.

Honestly how stupid and tone deaf can these execs be?

@d2

Why don't they just can that clueless sc-mbag Caddyshack ? He doesn't do much other than try to look important and call layoff meetings.

Maybe they can hire one of Alvind's countrymen or women with the really wierd pronunciation that no one understands - Is it English, Hindi,Telugu, Tamil or a combination of all four languages just to confuse everyone in the US ??

The thing I mostly don’t like about this is that it’s not up to IBM’s standard. To be fair, some of the marketing IBM has put out in the past has been inspired. The kind of stuff only a legacy brand can pull off. My issue with this is that the quality isn’t great. It’s just not creative.

They need to clean out the lifers in marketing. Too many are overpaid admins.

You are right. That is a lame mktg post on Automation in LinkedIn. I think a first grader could do better. The IBM brand now is like 1 of 12 salt commodities you see in supermarkets.

IBM marketing has been subpar for the last few years. There needs to be a culture shift within the marketing group and a closer connection with the product teams to deliver what customers want AND be able to tell them that they want it.

What do you expect from a clueless marketing VP whose last name rhymes with fa-t ?

She certainly is not the pick of the litter.
