Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Flagscape Authentication

new to the company but if we are working from home for the day does flagscape authenticator track what we do on our cell phones like if I spend 6 hours on tik tok and 4 hours on fb since we allowed access or it's only taking our location and matching it to the laptop and letting us in?

The less they know about me the better and I hate having something of the banks on my phone but we can't bypass it so I wondered what they take

"Here’s a thought—maybe, just maybe, the authenticator is doing exactly what it says: verifying your location and granting access. Not secretly monitoring how many hours you waste on Facebook."

Here is a simple thought.
They are not trustworthy.
They do not have the workers best interests in mind.
There is nothing keeping their behavior in check.
We are not living in some sort of child's fairy tale.
What are you planning on selling next, cigarettes?

Oh, yeah, the company went out of its way to develop an entire authentication system just to personally babysit you and your TikTok addiction. Because obviously, out of thousands of employees, you’re the top priority.

Here’s a thought—maybe, just maybe, the authenticator is doing exactly what it says: verifying your location and granting access. Not secretly monitoring how many hours you waste on Facebook. But hey, if you’re that paranoid about your privacy, maybe start by worrying less about the bank’s security app and more about the fact that you willingly hand over your entire life’s data to social media companies for free.

For several years our G-Tech group has been issued bank owned phones. No bank business on personal phones and no personal business on bank devices.

solution - get a separate cheap phone and use that like what everyone else said

"Flagscape authentication app is safe to use on iOS devices. It doesn't collect any data, except your location. You can turn off precise location."

Don't take this the wrong way. But are you some sort of re--rd?
You probably smoke a pack of cigarettes a day and have placed your
entire life savings into the 'stock market'. You should also move to Chicago because it is super safe with very little taxes.

It is weird that they require it on your personal device on one hand and then are all about not using personal devices for bank business on the other. If it is risk for them then it’s risk for them. The regulators and Auditors would have a field day on this one. But for the app itself, all it tracks is location when you get approval. It will also soon check with imaging that you are YOU logging on. But it doesn’t track cell phone usage. Look at your app settings for it. It will tell you and you can set it for various ways to connect as well.

I had one peer have an issue with the app it would not install in her phone and it took months to get an actual hard Authenticator but she's in office 3 days a week 2 at home but during that time she had to be in office 5 days a week which su-ks.

This topic is just as comical as my spouse at a different company was required to have a soft token app installed on his personal mobile phone. It was many years ago but my spouse requested a hard token to logon to VPN services. The request was denied. My spouse responded to the group that his phone is a flip-phone and the soft-token app cannot be installed. The group again denied the request. Making the story shorter, a hard-token was ordered and this was an embarrassing tale for the folks in India.

I use the authenticator to logon at home only and then close the app. If BOA wants to know my location at the time of using the app, I have no issues as it is the same location before, during, and after the COVID pandemic while WFH. As for multitasking while on the job, I prefer to listen to the radio without earphones or a headset.

not sure what to tell you guys. We have no other option to sign in if we don't use the app.

To the person who said it was safe and just uses location thank you that was my question I have it set up where I allow location each time.

It is absolutely ridiculous to assume that your only option is your own personal device to be able to log in. I 100% do NOT believe this is the only option. If it’s true, then I guess they need to make sure they only hire those who personally own the right type of cell phone. See my point? Do you know how many equal opportunity act violations that would create for Bank of America? They would get roasted alive for it.

There MUST be a bank issued device option for you to use. It is THEIR computer, therefore it is THEIR responsibility to make sure that you are able to access it to perform the job they hired you for. It is not your responsibility.

@as

You can't have it both ways.
Either pay for a burner phone to keep things separate, or stop whining about how your employer is encroaching too much upon your personal privacy.

Which is more important to you: paying a pittace for delineation, or losing your autonomy/privacy/dignity?

Global Ops. b6 we don't get separate phones we had a option for a USB type key to generate a code but they took that away and now it's only available to sign in via Authenticator which we are told has to be on our phones now. I don't have a burner phone nor want to pay for a new number just for this.

One word: burner.

Never mix biz w/ personal, especially when it comes to devices/apps.

I don’t know what department you’re in, but we have separate phones in my area, by mandate. We have nothing from the bank on our personal devices.

Get a cheap, separate phone and be done with it.
