Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Enjoyed Technology, but not much else.

Recently displaced and wanted to wait a few days before venting. I always enjoyed technology, still do, I worked hard for this company and spent many years doing just that, missing my kid's games and often holidays on the way, never complaining. But those chunks of tasty goodness are now floating in a toxic broth that only gets more toxic as it stews and the demographics adjusts. The constant lies, double speak, back stabbing, flexing, gaslighting etc and a manager that enjoys every minute of it. Our manager has the skill-set of a prison guard, encouraging dysfunction and staying out of harms way whenever they are called upon to actually do some "managing", while looking for someone to blame. Remember your last tirade? like many..the only way we can cope is to not so quietly quit, you don't get shi+ from me, or from the others, in the last months it is all we similar employees talked about, i.e. producing nothing, getting out and away.

I am glad it is over, seems such a waste of time spent working for a crooked bank, with crooked people, my participation made me ashamed. Time to heal and do something meaningful with what is left of the life God has given me. I hope we see a shift back to valuing truth, integrity over this dystopian nightmare, it wasn't always like this we used to be proud. Good luck to all.

Best of luck to you. For all else. A Jobe is a paycheck and hopefully is something that you like to do. If not for the paycheck you would not have done the work for free. We are all dispensable. If you gave up personal time with your family it is unfortunate but in no way should anyone have a mindset that the company would treat anyone special. Don’t get me wrong the managers have their special people but most are not one and the culture will evolve. Don’t feel bad but don’t look back with regrets. You made the decision to work the hours and at that time it was what you thought was the right thing to do and you likely felt very good about a job well done. However, WF is an artificial being with no feelings. Always remember that

This is the experience of so many employees in tech! Hamstrung by inefficient Indian employees with language barriers, toxic bosses managing up while neglected their actual teams, lack of communication, lack of clear goals, terrible managers who gaslight others, and ever-present layoffs putting the pressure on those who remain to stir the toxic soup. I hope there is joy after WF!

Don’t let one person’s opinion think that that’s the truth in reality of the situation. Beware of trolls posting misinformation do not believe this guy he’s out of his mind.

@OP, your story’s a raw look at how toxic a place can get—sorry you went through that grinder at WF. To recover, give yourself time to decompress; step away from the lies and gaslighting by doing things that feel real—family time, tech you enjoy, whatever grounds you. Process the anger (venting here’s a solid start), then pivot to what’s next—small steps, like a project or job that doesn’t drain your soul. You’ve got skills and grit; use them where they’re valued. Heal up, and best of luck reclaiming what matters.

This organization is sick and getting sicker every day. Your post shows how sick this bank has become. This bank needs a lot of forgiveness.

An AI prompt came to mind "How do I recover from a or ?"  You have gotten over the denial stage of the grief cycle. It will be interesting to see what the trolls/cyber bullies will do to this post. If this fearful bank is going to survive it will have to face itself --eventually. But by then we will be long gone.

God speed, be proud of your accomplishments. Be proud of the salary you earned while taking on the toxic mess. This what I'll be telling myself hopefully soon.
