USPS can make changes all by themselves to save money but with so many politicians from rural areas and R's protecting big business it wont happen.

  1. Go to ever other day delivery of letter mail. Yes, the unions would need to agree to potential cuts but the alternative is making it private negating ALL union contracts. By the way, that's the real reason for Doge efforts.
  2. Charge Fedex, UPS, etc. for last mile delivery equal to what the package would cost you and me to deliver.
  3. Only discounts for junk mail would be those sorted zip+4, bar coded and presented to a post office sorting center closest to the destinations. Otherwise junk mail is full price. Oh wait the post office calls it bulk mail.
  4. Congress should reverse forcing the USPS to have 100% funded retirement fund. No private business, well the few who still have one, nor federal or state governments has to do that.
  5. Provide capital to upgrade the fleet. This is underway but needs acceleration.
  6. Local delivery vehicles should be electric. 77% less moving parts, cheaper per mile and much reduced maintenance. Oil change bills alone would be 10s of millions in savings.
  7. Sell off and lease back postal service buildings owned by USPS. Rural sites could be hard but long term leases would make it attractive to investors.
  8. Add more self service package mailing kiosks. My local post office has 1 so everyone stands in line for a human.

I'm certain there are many more. Just get serious people.

Great points. They try to save so much money sending American jobs overseas, yet they're on board wanting to pay 140 percent more with potential postal price hikes. Crazy world.

LOL! Likely nothing nefarious about it. You do understand Wells Fargo is a major financial institution including analysts who track and monitor and comment on every single bit of our economy and anything that impacts it.

Also, Wells is a financial institution with several lines of business that send and receive substantial amounts of mail -letters, documents, ads, parcels, etc- every single business day.

If the USPS were to be trashed by Cheeto, it would have a significant impact on Wells' daily operations.
