Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Mr Legg and CSO

For YEARS CSO was the safe place to be. Great work excellent salaries and rarely if ever a layoff. I thought when Jeremy came in he was a breath of fresh air, acted differently and pretty calm cool guy. That’s been flipped on its head, and now CSO couldn’t be more toxic and it’s all him. Town halls where he talks down like we’re mere peasants and now he doesn’t even take questions for obvious reasons. The people there are so great and deserve better. People come and go, and when he’s gone there will be celebration. What a disappointment we need a real leader that actually knows the product and a better haircut

I think you're giving Legg too much credit. Both he and Rich get their orders from Stankey. Rich uses bully tactics to hide his stupidity and the cronies he has brought in are just blind sycophants bent on su-king up until he he goes to the next company.

“Legg said that NOBODY would be forced to relocate.”
That was two years ago. Job requirements have changed and will change again. Adapt or leave.

@a4+1jpz0v2ks- the best most articulate response I have seen here, perhaps ever…… >well done sir!

I and team does also agree of posters articulating of the mister leggs. When first mister leggs did the speaking he does say more employees and less contractors. I and said team did “worry over curry.” Soon we does see paper samir and paper sandeep get job offer to become offshore employee. At such of time we did know mister leggs was the Jackal.

Somebody does let wolf in said hen house. Now we must save the chickens from the legg.

Legg said that NOBODY would be forced to relocate. He's a 2-faced m0r0n who knows nothing about technology as seen by the people in CSO that he hired and wrecked the organization and all they know how to do is create reports and think AT&T is a "financial" company (since that's where they all came from--basically ones with lots of data breaches). They don't know anything about running a large-scale network. Many don't even understand routers.

"T had two major data security breaches that were covered up for months. CSO needs to clean house."

CSO had nothing to do with these data breaches. They both took place on 3rd party networks and were failures of teams that were gutted by layoffs of ensuring that contractual destroying of data was completed. When you layoff people when projects are 95% complete and hand the work off to someone else, the most important parts of the project (destroying data when finished) never happens. These falls on our CEO and his reckless cutting of jobs.

CSO was rock solid with the job they do. Well maybe not now since they have been recklessly gutted.

I kind of feel sorry for him if this is not his agenda that he is pushing. Perhaps he is implementing another's agenda to save his own a**. I think he knows there are no other such opportunities out there for him and that he is in over his head and should not be head of an IT organization in any capacity with his basic degree and non-charismatic persona it will probably difficult for him to find another opportunity at the level he is now anywhere else.

No more safety. The days of getting paid and doing nothing is gone.

I disagree. L4 here. We was told we was safe.
If the days of getting paid and doing nothing are gone then WTF is the entire L3 and L4 levels doing. You think we respect them and think they add value? Pi-s off dude.

You certainly will not find any admirers of Legg at AT&T. We have had our fill of him, looking forward to his demise.

If you look at most of T, CSO and CDO have the smartest folks. However most of them have either retired or left the company. There is still a decent amount of talent in these organizations. Other people who left T found jobs in many good companies. So they either spent doing less work in T and spent more time upskilling or they did up skill quickly after the notices and found them.

Same sentiment about Legg in the beginning. It’s important to remember that he’s from HBO and didn’t use to be a di-k. It is of my opinion that when he was first offered this job, he had no idea that his primary directive would be to gut the place. Only a psychopath could present themselves in such a genuine and sincere manner and then switch like Jekyll and Hyde. In fact in one of his first town halls he jokingly disclosed that Stankey asked him if he would like to be mayor of the swamp. He shared with us that he was perplexed by the use of the term and seemed genuinely interested in changing the perception that we were a “swamp”. The rest is history, and that history consists of big John walking in one day and giving him his real agenda. The poor guy must have been devastated that he wasn’t there to grow, improve and make his mark as the CTO. I’m certainly not defending him, but I do recall subsequent town halls when he had to sit there with egg on his face looking like an id--t dope and doing an about face. In later town halls he became the je-k and pompous a--hole that you eluded to as he was called out by employees for his obvious lies and newfound agenda. Namely his rabid fixation on offshoring our jobs to “Indian employees” as well as the insanity of a accelerated culture shift, obsessing over DEI to hire as many PoC as were available on college campuses. Nobody really knows for certain who the guy really is. I do agree with your assessment of his haircut though.
