I like ten of thousands have paid monthly dues for decades. We all know too many are victims of surpluses. Jobs are regularly sent overseas and CWA keeps collecting dues. The SE declared another surplus of over 300 last week. Our surplus members will get squat and the union keeps collecting.

@hc+1jq00dbpy, thank you for the great tip. Filtering is easy, and reports can be exported. The annual summary with chart, at the bottom of the page, is helpful.
DOL Home > OLMS > Online Public Disclosure Room > OPDR
https://olmsapps.dol.gov/olpdr/
Example Filter: ”Abbr” = CWA and ”Designation Number” = 3204
I looked up CWA in Charity Navigator.
https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/136620883
"This charity's score is 62%, earning it a Two-Star rating. ... Needs Improvement."
Low rating is centered on ACCOUNTABILITY & FINANCE
"Organization Mission
To provide various educational and tuition reimbursement benefits to eligible participants."
Just go to dept of labor website OLMS and search for your local union. It will list each officer and how much they received each year. If your total union dues of your local received is very close to the total pay of the officers your just giving your money to your local officers. Just make sure they are not taking union time every holiday or premium week and just sc--wing you with the dues and just making their time off better with your money. I've seen that up here in the SE.
CWA only cares about headcount, collecting those Sweet Dues from everyone. Illegal , citizen, doesn't matter.
If you think the union cares about you, you're wrong. You are only a number, a source of cash.
Pablo can replace you for 1/4 the cost.....
Some of them there flight attendants are pertie! Maybe that's why they get more shine from CWA!
All you trolls, go work for Comcast without a union contract and see how that works out for you during negotiations, layoffs, severance, wage increases, sick time, benefits, healthcare until Medicare, etc..
CWA has moved on from supporting telecom employees. Their focus has shifted to supporting airline flight attendants, can you blame them?
D3-SE 90 weeks severance if you have 30 years seniority. The union is weaker than ever but they still prevent the company from taking everything.
”All their income and expenses are available to the public. Search the department of labor website.”
@cr+1jq00dbpy, good link below for the CWA public facing webpage with links to financial and other information dating back to 1988.

Big dif between corporations and non-profit orgs like cwa is that cwa doesn't pay out dividends and their leaders decide who to pay money after themselves of course. So, much of your union dues go to stuff you may not agree with so really they're like a government you may despise.
you want people off the paybooks. tell them they are about to lose their pension.
Do it.
I can't wait for a higher pension after the class action lawsuit.
you want people off the paybooks. tell them they are about to lose their pension.
With these 300 layoffs, retirement eligible people might leave with severance and a big smile on their faces. It's nice getting some pocket money on the way out the door.
Others might be able to get a different job under a union guaranteed job offer. So, the net layoffs of people could be well less than 300.
Think of your dues as a tax and the CWA is the government politician telling you the CWA is insolvent.
They have bloated salaries and yet do very little work. Then they say “without us none of this would be possible”, yet you are still unclear on how your money is actually spent.
So many dimwits that don’t understand the difference between the corporations finances and the Union’s.
Probably the same people always asking if this or that was run by the Union for their input. As if they have any say whatsoever in how the company decides to conduct business.
Your rights are being taken away.
CWA is a non-profit organization. All their income and expenses are available to the public. Search the department of labor website.
Does it really even matter?
"Your dues will help pay “profits/severance” to previous “investors”. The new members will do the same for you. The process repeats and everybody wins."
~ Charles Ponzi, circa 1920
You’re asking that question now decades later?
@OP+1jq00dbpy, the reality, if AT&T files for bankruptcy, ALL stakeholders will get squat. As a dues paying member, the CWA should be able to provide a current S&P Capital IQ Report that will show the company critical financial ratios for the past 10 years. Below is a 2020 report for Windstream. Please pay extreme attention to the ”Altman Z Score”.

Follow the money trail!
CwA is exactly the same as any corporation like Tesla or T only undera different disguise... yet it's all the same... all about the mighty US Dollar... and anyone saying otherwise is a bl00dy liar or simply dilutional in the lie.
Great question. The leaders of the cwa like to keep all money for their committees (hotel rooms, dinners, flights,etc..) where they sit around and pretend like they are making a difference when everyone knows the company holds all the cards.
I am in District 3. We get "free" hot dogs at our local meetings. I guess that's where my $30,000+ in dues has gone over the years.
@OP, you are thinking about it all wrong. Think of your dues as an investment in your future. Your dues will help pay “profits/severance” to previous “investors”. The new members will do the same for you. The process repeats and everybody wins.
WOW! Lots of ”administrative expenses”.
“Tremendous” severance ? lol Must be a union leadership protecting their hustle.
Go to the "CWA Convention Proceedings and Biennial Reports" page. Click on the "Finance Committee Report".

Those surplus members get a tremendous severance, well beyond what management, and the private sector rank and file, on balance, would receive.
That benefit was bargained for.
CWA is certainly not beyond reproach, but they seem to do pretty well with respect to job protections and termination compensation.
You will never find out and don’t be silly thinking they care about anyone hardships. You received a few T-shirts and be grateful for their scam.
