Very management heavy in all departments. Bubble will eventually burst.

I think this is talking about management, which is layoffs. Sounds like you're talking about craft, which is surplus.

The end result is a layoff whether you want to call it a layoff or surplus.

A WARN notice is required for either management or union personnel head count reduction and those employees qualify for unemployment (even those who take any buyouts or received severance)..

For the millionth time - there will be no offers.... They will just layoff the younger guys and you’ll be working harder and longer.

They have to OFFER ESB to everyone in the affected HQ with the same job title being surplussed.

I'd call that an offer.

You want to reduce headcount. Tell employees that ATT is eliminating lumpsum payments unless they retire before a certain date, or they will receive an annuity when they retire.

Conjecture and "I heard..." is so much more reliable. LOL

You do realize there are surplus terminations in other areas than that report lists right?

Probably why they asked for the source. So, since the person posting couldn't provide any fu--ing source; here it is:

https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1jpqj0ve2 (posted 3/19, though announced date was 3/14), or more accurately:

https://www.warntracker.com/company/at-t
Sherman Oaks 47 positions 3/14/25, Off Payroll 5/13/25
But 47 in California is nowhere near the THOUSANDS Jimmy-Crack-Corn was implying would be hitting 5/13. Not even near the 309 reported the same day in D3. Jesus, you people su-k at facts and details.

Here is the surplus report:

https://cwad3.org/system/files/2025-03/2qtr2025_se_surplus_declaration_cwa_3.14.2025.pdf

Again, where is May 13 mentioned?

Source is the surplus notification that was sent out on 3/14, not quite so arbitrary.

And if you read the response, the Off Payroll date for the 3/14 surplus is JUNE 28.

@be+1jq4018dv, was your source the article with errors from December?

Editor's note, December 6, 2024: We previously stated that AT&T would reduce its staff by 50% in 2025. This was incorrect.
We misinterpreted historical workforce changes observed since 2007, mistakenly framing them as a planned future event. No official information supports this 50% reduction prediction. AT&T’s staffing shifts happened over many years, not as a scheduled cut by 2025. We are issuing this retraction to clarify the facts and apologize for any confusion caused.

Also, source for the May date? That seems like an arbitrary date since T usually makes those announcements on a Thursday or Friday, not a Tuesday. Also, the previously announced craft surplus on 3/14 have an off payroll date of 6/28 which is longer than the required 60 days for the WARN, which coincidentally would have been 5/13 had they only given 60 days.

I have heard half the current total headcount is contract workers already. Plus a lot in India. Not that many office workers left.

“AT&T plans to reduce its employee headcount by nearly half, affecting approximately 65,000 employees by the end of 2025. Additionally, a specific layoff date has been set for May 13, 2025, as required by the WARN Act.”

Nonsense on the numbers and the announcement…

Why is AT&T still in Alabama?

Because they've got a data center building they can't unload.

Looking like Decatur and Hoover Alabama hit.

Again? Or are you referring to the craft surplus announced 3/14? The 3/14 one affected 100 in Bham and 4 in Decatur.

For the millionth time - there will be no offers. That’s why they allow the ridiculousness like we have in the contracts. They know they will never do it. They will just layoff the younger guys and you’ll be working harder and longer. In the end you’ll just die in place or eventually give up and retire. I’d pick retire and enjoy what healthy mobile years I have left fishing and hunting. That’s just me though. I have 7 more years to go.

Why do you want to be laid off? Just quit. If severance is all you want you are in a poor financial situation.

Plenty happening this week:

  • ATT losing customers
  • ATT making customers angry
  • ATT laying off employees
  • ATT losing money
  • ATT continuing its special needs programs employing L3’s and L4’s
  • ATT HR department getting fatter, eating donuts and pizza 5x8
  • ATS receiving kazoos from Jeremy so entire town hall can participate in a stupid musical number. (It pays to be an insider like me that isn’t afraid to ruin stupid surprises).

I'm ready for the early departure offer in D9 and hope it spreads to other areas of the country for CWA members!
