Nothing will be done. It never is. Eight redundant layers of middle management provide a lot of cover for avoiding the blame as you manage up to their level.

Certainly for managers and project leads in repeating layers it is true. And they are already making cuts there. And in places where offshore has a team structure for support be it tech or operations it’s way too true and has been going through reductions in the US. Do you even work here ?

Could the 4 day office for managers be used to tactically reduce the number of management layers/managers? Not just people leaving the company, but people being moved around to avoid the 4 days in office.

If you are in a structure of manager on top of manager on top of manager, your days are numbered

I wouldn't say so, just your hierarchy will most likely change, particularly if multiple locations involved.
To suggest someone's going to be fired because they're below multiple managers is ridiculous, even for BNY

Nothing new. This has been going on since Charlie barked about it before he got a mint going to WellsF. They need to start slicing and frying big potatoes now. Saving the fat cats for last as they will now reduce staff expense overall instead of keeping it the same. Best part- now with the new chintzy severance package, they dont spend as much. If you are in a structure of manager on top of manager on top of manager, your days are numbered.

Being discussed by the higher ups - namely things like number of direct reports, location of teams Vs managers, numbers of SVP+ staff per team & those who are based at home.
Targets to bring all these things down &/or to zero this year.
