Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Those laid off are the lucky ones

Those who get laid off with a severance are the lucky ones. Verizon is a sinking ship that has been led astray by poor management, bad decisions, and years of brain drain leaving the company a shell of its former self. Future changes will only make life more difficult for those who remain. Death by 1,000 cuts. @ipd+1joSfkRT is 100% on point.

So? Lehman Bros, Enron, and Worldcom were all top Forbes companies once, and now where are they? (Ironically, what was once Worldcom assets is mostly part of VBG today).

Verizon might be in Forbes top 25, but they are also in top 5 most indebted companies too.

Once successful companies

Give it up, VZ is just another company struggling to survive. The company lost its identity, lost the support of its employees, and are in debt by about $136B. If nothing changes, VZ won't be around in 5 years.

Verizon is #23 on the Forbes list. As much as you are wishing for its demise, this company will be around for years. Its tough that companies have to make the tough decision to layoff employees but looking at bigger picture here, it still employees over 100k employees. That's pretty major if you ask me. Hopefully the employees that still have a job will stop whining on these boards, come to work and do the job they get paid to do. The entitlement with people nowadays is laughable. This world is full of entitled lazy people who think that things will be given to them. You must work hard and stop thinking the world is going to save you. Re-evaluate your priorities and make adjustments. If its not this job, it will be the next one and the next. Take a whole week and stop being bitter and miserable... it does take years off of your life when you do so is not worth it. Once your gone, Verizon will move on as if you never existed... is that harsh, yes but it's the reality of life. No one cares about your bills, your problems or your issues more than you. Change your circumstances and your viewpoint so you can deal with life when it happens.

Maybe so, but Verizon is in debt $136B, yes, that's $136 with a capitol B! Doesn't really matter how big Verizon is, they can still go broke. Ask Enron, Worldcom, and GM, just to name a few, what it's like to be too big to go bankrupt!

I equated Verizon to the Titanic. It’s sinking but how quickly still is TBD. One of the most toxic backwards Fortune 50 companies I’ve ever worked for and am thankful for the package. Just trying to figure out how to get more money in my package.
