Is the bank getting more strict with not hiring in certain locations? Had a pending offer that was rescinded due to not being in the "right" location all of a sudden. Everyone I met with was aware that I was in another city where there is broader team presence but not for the specific team.

Back in 2014 I know I was told and read in my contract that I had to live within 30 miles of my hub. Later I asked BM in a town hall if that rule was still in place. After stumbling a bit and glancing at someone off stage he finally stated that he was not aware of any such rule. Fast forward a few years and the same question pops up again. I don't see how they can dictate a rule like that. I also feel that mgmt does not have enough information about the population growth around hub sites. Our road system is not designed for a population that has tripled since the 30 mile requirement was put in place.
@113+1jq9v1c3d -- are you kidding?? Seriously, wake the F up.
Chi-town is in the Dead Zone.
Fly over state.
Only BOS, CLT, NYC matter. In that order (at least to BTM and co)
The rest is just fodder.
Chicago is still a hub location.
That is awful behavior by this employer. You could have been looking for other jobs during that time and may have even declined other offers on the promise of this one. Shameful.
I’d say it’s just the usual incompetence which wasted your time.
DFW, PHX
BOS, NYC, CLT.
Maybe Richmond for certain areas and Florida for others.
Other than that, fugget about it!!
Been that way for the past decade with some exceptions for specialized roles or when requested by a Favorite.
This place is practically inbred at this point.
We're better when we're connected!
Our area has high-value associates who are being told to move to a hub city or find employment elsewhere, so it seems that physical location is being prioritized over performance. "To foster collaboration" is a euphemism for "a method of managing headcount downward."
Not only that, but they can refuse to allow you to relocate. Another way of thinning the herd.
This is likely an(other) indicator of full-time RTO coming soon...which most of us were already expecting - with the announcement coming right after the survey closes. So they're not going to hire someone who is not in the location of the office for that particular role.
they might be trying to cut down on all expenses including moving
maybe if they hire in particular areas they get some sort of local tax break
I know of someone who went through 4 rounds and the hiring manager told them they wanted to make the offer to them but HR said no due to their location.
Yes. They are only hiring in areas listed on the application. They haven't been entertaining candidates that reside outside of the areas specified in the application.
Take the blue pill
